As I said in the beginning I'm fairly neutral in this conflict and am more interested in military tactics than I am with who is in the right and who is in the wrong. I'm keenly interested to see what else Hamas had planned, as you would assume that they have to know that there will be retaliation. I'm also interested to see how Israel approaches this conflict and how many lives they're willing to lose in urban fighting, rather than simply leveling infrastructure and storming Gaza.

You can read about ( Battle of Shuja'iyya 2014 ) , it was until now one of the most intense urban battle in the recent decades for Israel Army. There is a plenty of videos in YouTube about this battle in detail. Unfortunately I couldn't find one with english language or subtitle. But here is a video of the commander of Golani Brigade after his injury from that battle .

How Israel was duped as Hamas planned devastating assault

  • Hamas gave impression economy was in focus, says source
  • Even in plain sight, Hamas trained for attack, says source
  • ‘This is our 9/11,’ says army spokesman, ‘They got us.’
A careful campaign of deception ensured Israel was caught off guard when the Palestinian Islamist group Hamas launched its devastating attack, enabling a force using bulldozers, hang gliders and motorbikes to take on the Middle East’s most powerful army.

Saturday’s assault, the worst breach in Israel’s defenses since Arab armies waged war in 1973, followed two years of subterfuge by Hamas that involved keeping its military plans under wraps and convincing Israel it did not want a fight.

While Israel was led to believe it was containing a war-weary Hamas by providing economic incentives to Gazan workers, the group’s fighters were being trained and drilled, often in plain sight, a source close to Hamas said.
This source provided many of the details for the account of the attack and its buildup that has been pieced together by Reuters. Three sources within Israel’s security establishment, who like others asked not to be identified, also contributed to this account.

“Hamas gave Israel the impression that it was not ready for a fight,” said the source close to Hamas, describing plans for the most startling assault since the Yom Kippur War 50 years ago when Egypt and Syria surprised Israel and made it fight for its survival.

“Hamas used an unprecedented intelligence tactic to mislead Israel over the last months, by giving a public impression that it was not willing to go into a fight or confrontation with Israel while preparing for this massive operation,” the source said.

Israel concedes it was caught off guard by an attack timed to coincide with the Jewish Sabbath and a religious holiday. Hamas fighters stormed into Israeli towns, killing 700 Israelis and abducting dozens. Israel has killed more than 400 Palestinians in its retaliation on Gaza since then.
“This is our 9/11,” said Major Nir Dinar, spokesperson for the Israeli Defense Forces. “They got us.”
“They surprised us and they came fast from many spots — both from the air and the ground and the sea.”
Osama Hamdan, the Hamas representative in Lebanon, told Reuters the attack showed Palestinians had the will to achieve their goals “regardless of Israel’s military power and capabilities.”

‘They ran riot’

In one of the most striking elements of their preparations, Hamas constructed a mock Israeli settlement in Gaza where they practiced a military landing and trained to storm it, the source close to Hamas said, adding they even made videos of the maneuvers.
“Israel surely saw them but they were convinced that Hamas wasn’t keen on getting into a confrontation,” the source said.
Meanwhile, Hamas sought to convince Israel it cared more about ensuring that workers in Gaza, a narrow strip of land with more than two million residents, had access to jobs across the border and had no interest in starting a new war.
“Hamas was able to build a whole image that it was not ready for a military adventure against Israel,” the source said.

Since a 2021 war with Hamas, Israel has sought to provide a basic level of economic stability in Gaza by offering incentives including thousands of permits so Gazans can work in Israel or the West Bank, where salaries in construction, agriculture or service jobs can be 10 times the level of pay in Gaza.
“We believed that the fact that they were coming in to work and bringing money into Gaza would create a certain level of calm. We were wrong,” another Israeli army spokesperson said.
An Israeli security source acknowledged Israel’s security services were duped by Hamas. “They caused us to think they wanted money,” the source said. “And all the time they were involved in exercises/drills until they ran riot.”
As part of its subterfuge in the past two years, Hamas refrained from military operations against Israel, even as another Gaza-based Islamist armed group known as Islamic Jihad launched a series of its own assaults or rocket attacks.

No inkling
The restraint shown by Hamas drew public criticism from some supporters, again aimed at building an impression that Hamas had economic concerns not a new war on its mind, the source said.
In the West Bank, controlled by Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas and his Fatah group, there were those who mocked Hamas for going quiet. In one Fatah statement published in June 2022, the group accused Hamas leaders of fleeing to Arab capitals to live in “luxurious hotels and villas” leaving their people to poverty in Gaza.
A second Israeli security source said there was a period when Israel believed the movement’s leader in Gaza, Yahya Al-Sinwar, was preoccupied with managing Gaza “rather than killing Jews.” At the same time, Israel turned its focus away from Hamas as it pushed for a deal to normalize relations with Saudi Arabia, he added.
Israel has long prided itself on its ability to infiltrate and monitor Islamist groups. As a consequence, the source close to Hamas said, a crucial part of the plan was to avoid leaks.
Many Hamas leaders were unaware of the plans and, while training, the 1,000 fighters deployed in the assault had no inkling of the exact purpose of the exercises, the source added.
When the day came, the operation was divided into four parts, the Hamas source said, describing the various elements.
The first move was a barrage of 3,000 rockets fired from Gaza that coincided with incursions by fighters who flew hang gliders over the border, the source said. Israel has previously said 2,500 rockets were fired at first.
Once the fighters on hang-gliders were on the ground, they secured the terrain so an elite commando unit could storm the fortified electronic and cement wall that divides Gaza from the settlements and which was built by Israel to prevent infiltration.
The fighters used explosives to breach the barriers and then sped across on motorbikes. Bulldozers widened the gaps and more fighters entered in four-wheel drives, scenes that witnesses described.

‘Huge failure’

A commando unit attacked the Israeli army’s southern Gaza headquarters and jammed its communications, preventing personnel from calling commanders or each other, the source said.
The final part involved moving hostages to Gaza, mostly achieved early in the attack, the source close to Hamas said.

In one well-publicized hostage taking, fighters abducted party-goers fleeing a rave near the kibbutz of Re’im near Gaza. Social media footage showed dozens of people running through fields and on a road as gunshots were heard.
“How could this party happen this close (to Gaza)?” the Israeli security source said.
The Israeli security source said Israeli troops were below full strength in the south near Gaza because some had been redeployed to the West Bank to protect Israeli settlers following a surge of violence between them and Palestinian militants.

“They (Hamas) exploited that,” the source said.

Retired General Yaakov Amidror, a former national security adviser to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, told reporters on Sunday the assault represented “a huge failure of the intelligence system and the military apparatus in the south.”
Amidror, chairman of the National Security Council from April 2011-November 2013 and now senior fellow with the Jerusalem Institute for Strategy and Security, said some of Israel’s allies had been saying that Hamas had acquired “more responsibility.”

“We stupidly began to believe that it was true,” he said. “So, we made a mistake. We are not going to make this mistake again and we will destroy Hamas, slowly but surely.”

Some people here need a reality check. If we look at the geopolitical situation, being emotional has no benefits for Türkiye. You can't let religion and morality cloud your judgment on this situation. Both sides are morally corrupt, but with the killing of 260 festival attendees alone, Hamas definitely takes the cake for this round. I digress.

Let's just imagine that Israel fell.

All of a sudden, Türkiye would be the only country that can confront Iran in the middle east. Issue is that we currently can't conduct deep strikes in Iran. Meaning that we would be staring down the barrel of a nuclear armed Iran within 5 or so years. Not only does this highlight the importance of the Anka 3 program, but is also why it's important for us to repair and maintain relations with Israel until the Iranian threat is neutralized.

It seems that people don't grasp the fact that Iran is the biggest threat to our nation in the long term and also the primary power which is blocking the uniting of the Turkic World.

The anti-Turk lobby knows this. Armenian and Greek lobbys in the USA have convinced the USA that keeping Iran afloat is more useful than destroying them. 6 billion aid, almost no retaliation and allowing Iran to run amuck for several years, it has lead to Iran threatening Azerbaijan and Türkiye, and also this latest conflict in Israel-Palestine.

It's much more useful for the US as well to allow Iran to embolden itself rather than allowing a Turkic corridor which would lead to a union of militaristic and somewhat competent nations which would not only threaten Europe's power, but US hegemony.

As we speak, Iran is funneling millions of more Afghans and Pakistanis to the Turkish border. They are also openly threatening Azerbaijan.

Their ultimate goal is to establish a corridor to the Mediterranean. This is obvious, their activities in Iraq and Syria are for this reason. One of the biggest road blocks to this is Israel. That's why they wish to destroy Israel, you think they give a shit about Palestinian lives? Once this happens, all Arab nations would simply fall to them. Hamas-Hezbollah or whatever other Iranianian backed entities there are, would sweep through the Arab world unopposed. Sunni and Shia wouldn't matter, the victory against Israel would legitimize Iran.

This new power would then quickly turn it's head to Türkiye. With 13 million uneducated Muslim refugees, we would have a situation which would make the current PKK conflict look like nothing. There's a reason why Greeks and Armenians bow down to Iranians online. They think that they will be their savior.

This is their dream. We have a lot of internal enemies that support this as well. Luckily they have all made themselves feel so comfortable that it's out in the open who they are. As for the threat from Iran itself, there's a reason why TSK has been arming itself so heavily. Eventually we will confront them. We need to before they go nuclear. Only Israel and Türkiye have the balls and capabilities to finish this threat. If you believe that the USA wants to see this, you are naive. Iran's nothing but a counterbalance to Türkiye in their eyes, hell, they are acting more friendly with Iran than with us.

We need to establish stronger relations with Israel while they're in crisis. This is an alliance of necessity.

While part of your reasoning are sound . I think your biggest enemy is your own allies ...
You might want to contradict my statement . But , it's OK ....
There are 2 ways to contain your enemy . Controlled enviromment/boiling frog methods ...or simply erased them for once and all ..

And alll i can see is turkey was allready in the ketle right now ...

Yeah , the cooks was a litle bit occupied in pacific and bankrolling a failed state at the moment . But the intention are persist .

The difference is that no state in NATO is willing to go to war with Türkiye. Even the US doesn't have the stomach to do this, it would be too costly and risky. The public is sick of wars, and US bases and Aircraft Carriers would be easy targets. It simply isn't worth the risk, even with all that airpower.

Iran on the otherhand is stupid enough to risk everything. They believe that their cheap and numerous arsenal of drones and missiles would overwhelm us. They also are a relentless enemy. They would lose hundreds of thousands of troops before giving up. This is why they're a threat. Give them nukes and they would attempt anything.

I can talk a lot about this point of yours but derailing the thread rn isnt ideal

All what I can say is that it isnt about religious extremism but tribalism

But let me just summarise it by saying that....

It is more about how the current nations came into existence after the collapse of the Ottomans. Deep inside, current kings and rulers both in Europe and Med East are afraid from a strong Turkey. One day, Turkey, if allowed to grow, may end up reswallowing all of those shitheads and destroy their legacy. I met many Europeans in my life who refused to admit how the Ottomans steamrolled Europe and met many pro-regime Arabs who admits that the coup in Turkey should have succeeded and turkey should return to being a one man rule just like all the other Med East states to ensure stability in the region

Ataturk was right on one thing, Turks should never fight for the Arabs unless they have some sort of strategic importance. Turks arent like Arabs and religious belief about Ummah stuff will just cause the Turks to sacrifice for the Arabs while the Arabs backstab them again since the Arabs themselves are the furthest thing from being an Ummah
Palestinian Arabs are not related to Arabs from the Arabian Peninsula. So they are not traitors.
If you dig into history, it turns out that Aramaic-speaking Semites lived in Palestine, Syria, Iraq, mostly of the Christian religion from different sects: Gnosticism, Nestorianism, Miaphysitism. The descendants of the Edomites and Nabataeans also lived there.
They, the Syrians and Palestinians, began to accept Islam and the Arabic language only in the XIV century, especially after the fall of the Crusader kingdoms to Salah ad Din and Baybars.
Until this time, the Arabs themselves from the Arabian Peninsula did not get along with each other: the Kaysits against the Kelbits since pre-Islamic times, their enmity stretched back to pre-Islamic times. These civil strifes were one of the reasons for the fall of Al-Andalus, that is, Muslim Spain.

I saw the video

What is that guidance system ??
Doesn't look like it has any real guidance. It just goes in a straight line and likely has a large blast radius. It might have a timed fuze based on estimated target distance (not a proximity fuze)

Iran is also at the border with us in Syria - IRGC, Hezbollah. To date Erdogan has not confronted Iran in Iraq or Syria, I think he's afraid of them.

Because israel was one of the few countries that helpend them in contrary to its muslim brothers in arabia and persia.
See this is the problem, you guys always demand sympathy and support from your muslim brothers but when its time to give back you, more often than not, dont only deny this support, you even work with our enemies to undermine us.

Hence so many Turks who dont feel like siding with palestinians.
Chechenia under shamil basayev provided military aid to azerbaijan, and ruslan utsiev himself provided 2000 Manpads and million of dollars to azerbaijan.

This is why I always put an emphasis on Arabs for this gargantuan effort, note that I always put Arabs first, and then Muslims (common), I know for a fact that Turkiye is a very secular country with its people divided into the very secular who want a Turkic hegemony and the citizens who crave for the old days of Ottomanism where Islam is central core. You can't have both sides, because to achieve one you need to sacrifice the other.

Tbh, in the Arab world you have secularists like Baath and the Islamists as well, but they have more in common when it comes to the final reconquest of Palestine, this is their common agreement, which I couldn't find between Turkish secularists and Turkish Islamists.

Luckily for the Arabs, in the long run time is on their side.

Most secular Turks don't really care too much about this conflict. I don't want the Palestinians to get wiped out, frankly I don't have a dog in this fight. Both sides have done despicable things. But a lot of us prefer Israel to Iran.

Some Islamists in Türkiye would drool if Israel was destroyed, without realizing that it would mean that we would have to single handedly halt Iran's nuclear program.

We need to be cold and calculated. As much as some people hate Israel for numerous reasons, currently they are useful to have as an ally.

I think no guidance at all, its a fuze at the front. Its clearly not radar housing cone.
