I think the U.S. assumed that the regime would collapse once Khamenei died. It’s now clear that things will be very different from Venezuela. Most likely, after a few weeks of bombardment, a ceasefire will be declared, and Iran will carry on from where it left off

Yep, and that would be good for us. Unless we intervened and gave South Azerbaijan full autonomy/independence (won't happen with our current government, don't keep your hopes up), the second best scenario is to keep the regime.

An American F-15 fighter jet participating in the bombing of Iran crashed in Kuwait. The pilot ejected and survived, as shown at the end of the video. The cause of the crash is unknown; it is believed the F-15E was mistakenly shot down by friendly fire from air defenses, or a technical malfunction is also possible. Iranian media reported the downing of the F-15 over Kuwait. Video footage of the American F-15 crash and the pilot's rescue was captured by local residents from various angles.
