Russia and China could not have hoped for a bigger moron in the oval office.

Dude has destroyed the US' standing and relations with europe, destroyed any confidence gulf states had in the US, damaged relations with SK by pulling Patriot and THAAD after the SK government took a big hit with its population by deploying them in the first place and hurt its relations with China (Economic and Diplomatic). And proved that no what posturing the USN does they have no chance in hell surviving any real conflict against China's missile forces in the south china sea.

Which will turn into countries like Japan and SK and current and future governments to revisit their positions re China as the impregnable wall that the US was supposed to provide has pretty much crumbled against a way less sophosticated opponent.

Can't wait for these morons to order a ground invasion just for the internet to be flooded with footage of FPV drones blowing apart whole groups of marines and soldiers and CENTCOM is still gonna tweet "no guys we are already in Teheran with zero causalties" as the next tweet from some dude sitting in a cave in iran shows another reality.

And this guy is still in office for 3 years btw so its not even like supposed "partners" and "allies" can just wait it out because he is gone in 12 months or so.
And he won't stop because Israel is still delusional and thinks it can break apart Iran lmao.

I fully buy helicopters being hit with gunfire; unsure about A-10; they mention it was crashed into sea. Americans are refueling their CSAR birds over Iranian airspace with KC-130s. I don't see how can we view this as an "uptick" on Iranian GBAD activity. If anything, it's the other way around.
Iran's AD capabilities are abysmal. Based on outdated tech that would stand no chance against current gen EW and counters against missiles. Add to it that it is huge country with more mountains then mordor and that they have no real radar network and communication is probably abysmal due to interference and leadership hidding it is no surpise the US can easily enter Iranian airspace.

Then again looks like the KC-130 took hits as well as both CSAR choppers sent in.

One of the pilots is MIA and will most likely turn up dead (shot by the locals) or in iranian hands sooner than later.

3 more years of this btw. Trump getting elected and fucking over the rest of the world is prove enough that US influence around the world needs to be diminished to the minimum. Because the idiots who voted for this guy are going to vote for the next version too.

Also look who is standing behind him lmao one of the guys who pushed for this conflict in the name of israel.

Yes, their air defense system is truly extremely problematic.
It's unlikely that the Iranians will be able to find the second pilot before the Americans. Without the intervention of the Türkiye Akinci drone, the Iranians wouldn't have been able to locate even their own president, who died in a plane crash, let alone an enemy pilot.🙄

ATP the more time passes without any news from the pilot it is more likely he/she will turn up in iranian hands. Doesn't have to happen due to a search operation by the iranian, some locals will stumble upon them by coincidence. Or they were injured and most likely have perished due to said injuries and the body is in some cave they choose to hide in.

Coming back to the technical aspects of this war, this is something I did not expect. A multispectral camera based SHORAD complex. The thought of Aselsan or Roketsan getting into this is beyond exciting. Just think of the ways they would come up with.

I can just picture it: network centric, AI based, non-signal emitting, man-portable sensor. Just put it on top of a house. Plug it to the house electricity and internet. Maybe camouflage a bit. Or put it on top of a truck with some beefed up Sungur missiles.

It's nothing new, it's what they worked on for years in Iraq, Yemen, by giving them to PKK in Syria and now in Iran. There's a reason why they are only successful on bringing down Reapers; they use EO based SAMs like the 358.

Sucks to be my ignorant ass lmao

But I stand by my point; we should be working on a resilient short range distributed air defense system that can be used to "switch" to asymmetrical air defense when it's needed. This can bring forth a lot of new possibilities/opportunities as well as being a pretty solid insurance against Israeli-evangelical bloodthirst.

I read that most modern 2 seat fighters have an automated ejection sequence of rear seat ejection/sub 0.5 sec delay/ front seat ejection. Surely the two F-15 crewmen landed close to each other so no big aerial area search would be required to find the WSO?

All our systems already come with EO. Systems like 358 are cheap and somewhat mobile but there lies the issue. They are only good for drones and potshots against enemies of which you know their locations so you can ambush them. It's not a winning strategy; it's a hailmary. If you are down to that, you've already lost.

Report that the downed WSO has been recovered

Orwell Prize-winning war correspondent Toby Harnden, on his part, reported that the missing F-15E weapons systems officer is safe and back in American hands.

Harnden, a former Royal Navy officer and author, who reported from 33 countries, including Baghdad and Jerusalem, for The Daily Telegraph and The Sunday Times, said in a statement on X that the WSO has been recovered alive.

Citing an officer involved in monitoring the rescue who reportedly described the ordeal, he reported that the missing American soldier vaded up a 7,000-foot ridge.

U.S. representative for Nebraska’s 2nd congressional district, Donald John Bacon, is among Republican politicians who have reacted to the reports.

The retired military officer said the “reports of the second USAF aircrew member rescued is an answer to all our prayers.”

“I honor the bravery of our search and rescue teams and our special forces. I hope no casualties. And, I salute the F-15E Weapon Systems Officer who put their survival skills to work in a very dangerous and harrowing situation,” Bacon posted.

"Hormuz is a weapon more powerful than nuclear weapons. Iran will not surrender it," American intelligence said.

Iran is unlikely to open the Strait of Hormuz to shipping traffic anytime soon, as control over it is Tehran's only real leverage over the United States. This is the conclusion reached by American intelligence agencies.
According to American intelligence, Iranian authorities will block tanker traffic through the Strait of Hormuz to maintain high global energy prices and thereby exert pressure on US President Donald Trump.

Intelligence reports, familiar to Reuters sources, also noted that Iran's influence in the region could increase as a result of this war, as Tehran has demonstrated its ability to jeopardize oil transportation.

In an address on April 1, Donald Trump said that the issue of regulating the passage of ships through the Strait of Hormuz should be taken on by the countries with the greatest interest in it, and the United States is only willing to assist them in this endeavor.

On April 3, Trump stated that the US needs a little more time and will be able to open it "without difficulty." The Strait of Hormuz, "to take the oil and make a fortune," Reuters recalls. However, experts interviewed by the agency noted that attempting to use force to open the Strait of Hormuz could lead to a prolonged war with Iran, which Trump expects to end in a matter of weeks.

"In an attempt to prevent Iran from developing weapons of mass destruction, the United States has given Iran weapons of mass destruction," Ali Vaez, director of the Iran project at the International Crisis Group, told Reuters. He believes Iranian authorities understand that the ability to control the global energy market by blocking the Strait of Hormuz is "far more powerful than even nuclear weapons."

US President Donald Trump reportedly threatened Iran with "real hell" within 48 hours if Tehran doesn't reach a deal or open the Strait of Hormuz."

A year ago, Europe begged the United States not to leave it alone in the face of the Russian threat. Trump responded by refusing to supply Ukraine with free weapons, declaring: "America is not threatened across the beautiful ocean. If you want, buy weapons from us with your own money and give them to Ukraine."
Now that the Strait of Hormuz is closed, Trump is appealing to his European allies for help, declaring: "America doesn't need the Strait of Hormuz. If you want the Strait of Hormuz, send your fleet and open it."
But Europe refuses to fight Iran.
Even Israel, the only remaining US ally, is unwilling to join the Americans in a ground operation in Iran.

And who needs a ground war?🙄

Trump abandoned all his allies for Israel, and now he is left completely without allies.
It's quite possible that Trump will soon realize the quagmire Netanyahu has driven him into.

That's when the fun begins 🙂

It seems no amount of bombing will help the US, and the occupation of Iran's islands and coastal areas will only draw the Americans deeper into the Iranian quagmire.
Drop everything and run away, like they did from Afghanistan?!🫢

Yeah, you can't envy Trump.
