Ever since Ford vs Ferrari, ford fans have been growing a head

I'd cooperate with Iveco. Italians can get job done too bad their anti Turkish so its hard to trust them.

I think the main problem was in the fact that Erdo is imposing his idea of complete national independence

Probably, it is due to this, that many companies that are mainly "assembling" rather than building from scratch military trucks or other military equipment arent getting tenders anymore. I think this is the problem with Otokar as well. It is a top notch company that outclasses BMC in terms of military vehicles but arent liked by the SSB due to the fact that it doesnt produce most of its stuff in Turkey. Although recently, Iam surprised by FNSS a lot. Their locality rate is increasing while provide top class equipment both in terms of performance and aesthetics. I kean they left both Otokar and BMC in the dust during IDEF21.....LOOL
And while prioritizing local production is important these companies who're favored should be under strict supervision with regard to R&D. Because they get a rare opportunity that other privat companies don't necessarily get.

As we can see with BMC owned by ES, that's a failure. I think we have to see what Tosyali does.

Turkey really needs the God damn tanks
Leopard tanks are a disgrace. These tanks must be thrown in the garbage bin
It would be even better if they began production with Altay T2 or Altay T3 as it may be able to compete with new generation tanks (if possible)

This isn't Ford, this is %100 Otosan, from the engine to the cab, the F-Max is designed in Turkey.

Iveco is terrible with fuel economy from what I heard.

Scania, Mercedes and Volvo in that order are the most popular trucks not just in Turkey but in Europe.

If BMC motor can deliver solid reliable engine/propulsion system to TSK then I'm all for they continue.

From what I have seen from BMC, those engines might have some stolen IPs in them. From MTU, Cummins, wherever.

No matter how good your products are, if they are dependent on foreign counterparts by even a single nail, it may screw Turkey over and Iam sure Turkey already experienced more than enough delays due to embargoes

My main problem is why SSB doesnt raise their requirements? I mean, instead of just asking for the bare minimum, you can raise the stakes a bit to force the companies to improve. Some users in different forums stated that this was done to force new vehicle military manufacturers to compete, gain some money from orders from the TSK and grow in the long term. Idk whether this is true or not. However, they did cite @Stuka claim about BMC recently improving their overall designs in the wheeled vehicles category especially those involved in transporting tanks etc....
Again, this is what I read in other forums, they may be wrong

I hope BMC improves. Always believe in second chances.

Honestly FNSS right now is killing it. They have really uppes their game.

I hope the Kaplan MT makes into the Turkish army.

I think we have to develop a national IFV turret with a 50mm autocannon like the american XM913

And I think Tulpar is a superior platform. With Akkor, ERA, and UMTAS it could become the most deadly IFV in the world.

Fortunately, bmc and tumosan took the risk and took the responsibility of producing the engines we needed. otherwise we could only dream with the engine of f-max :D

Because Otokar and Ford Otosan are two seperate companies. They aren't branches of the same company. It's not as simple.

It's the same reason why you don't see FNSS components on Nurol Makina vehicles even though Nurol owns half of FNSS.

Thank you for the information, it's interesting but I'm not wrong. It's not an FNSS owned intellectual property finding itself in a Nurol Makina product, they jointly developed something. That's different.

Could Otokar and Ford Otosan jointly develop a new Duratorq engine? or a military version of F-Max? probably. That's not the same as what is suggested here.

EZ Otosan doesn't want to involve in military affairs. Otosan doesn't want to take the risk of getting embargoed or lose its partner Ford and lose 3 billion worth of sales per year. Otosan wants to stay as a purely civilian company. Otosan has no collaboration even with Otokar. Should they work together more? IMO an unarmed military version of F-Max should be fine but I know Turkish people. We won't hesitate to put some ballistic missiles on top F-Max and there you go Otosan will be subject to same embargoes like our defense industry companies.

Engineers don't need to be transferred. Companies have recruitment and headhunting departments there is competition even between the companies of the same holding. BMC grabbed a lot of engineers from Otokar and Otosan do you think engineers who work at BMC suddenly appeared out of thin air?

It is FNSS owned, they have the amphibious capability to design such a vehicle and Nurol has the parts and expertise to produce 4x4s.

It's the best demonstration of a holding utilising two of its companies to trump the competition > Otokar.

As for Otokar-Otosan @TheInsider explains it perfectly. Simply put, we will never see the two come together.

that was the first thing that came to my mind after seeing the Turks' UGV

There are so many m113 around the world, it only makes sense to offer an unmanned package for them. In this case, m113 do not offer sufficient protection of soldiers on the modern battlefield, so converting them to an unmanned ground vehicle makes the m113 platform relevant.

I'm surprised there's only a handful of countries that are working on such projects..
