Lockheed Martin and Department of War to Accelerate Air Dominance Missile Production Under New Agreement.

DALLAS, Sept. 17, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Lockheed Martin (NYSE: LMT) signed a framework agreement with the U.S. Department of War to rapidly accelerate the production and delivery of the AIM-260, Joint Advanced Tactical Missile (JATM).
WHY IT MATTERS
JATM is the most sophisticated air dominance missile, capable of deterring and defeating current and projected enemy air threats. This state-of-the-art weapon has increased range and effectiveness over existing air-to-air weapons and provides an asymmetric advantage to the joint force. JATM is compatible with a variety of Air Force and Navy aircraft including the F-22 Raptor and F-35 Lightning II, making it a highly versatile combat system.

ADDITIONAL CONTEXT

• Internal Investment: JATM is produced by Lockheed Martin in partnership with the U.S. Air Force and U.S. Navy. Lockheed Martin will support necessary investments to drive the production increase under this agreement.
• Multiyear Procurement: This agreement forms the foundational agreement for a multiyear procurement contract, pending Congressional approval, that provides long-term demand to strengthen and expand the defense industrial base for the program.
• Global Deterrence: Australia recently announced a nearly $736 million investment to equip the Royal Australian Air Force with JATM. This agreement strengthens Australia's air dominance, enhances interoperability, and provides a credible deterrent that supports the security of the United States and its allies.
• Acquisition Transformation: This agreement is another direct outcome of the Department of War's Acquisition Transformation Strategy, one of the most significant reforms to U.S. warfighting acquisition in decades. It reflects years of collaboration to modernize acquisition and deliver critical capability at the speed and scale required by today's security environment.

"This is the beginning of a new era for the German Air Force: the new F-35A fighter jet is the world's most advanced combat aircraft," said Boris Pistorius, German Minister of Defense. "It is characterized by its stealth capabilities, close integration with other platforms, and exceptionally powerful sensor technology. The F-35A can gather vast amounts of data and rapidly synthesize them into a comprehensive operational picture. The first fighter jets will be delivered this year, with full operational capability to be reached by 2029. Consequently, the F-35A provides a decisive key capability – for the German Air Force and for the whole of NATO. Together with 19 other nations, we are putting transatlantic cooperation into practice, with common standards, technology and procedures. It is precisely this interoperability that opens up numerous opportunities for training, exercises, and operations, making us stronger together."
As the fighter aircraft selected by 20 nations, including 13 in Europe, the F-35 will deliver sovereign capability for Germany, strengthen NATO interoperability and enhance allied deterrence well into the future. With stealth technology, advanced sensors, payload and range, the F-35 is a cornerstone of European security, providing the Luftwaffe with the world's most capable fighter aircraft and a platform designed to continuously integrate new technologies and capabilities.
"With the F-35, the German Air and Space Force is receiving a modern, proven and highly capable 5th Generation fighter jet," said Lieutenant General Holger Neumann, Chief of the German Air and Space Force. "It will not only bring significant changes in our Air and Space Force but will also influence how we think, command and fight. The F-35 will allow us to become part of the larger international F-35 community. That strengthens Germany – and, at the same time, NATO."

German industry has contributed to the F-35 program since its inception in 2001 and will continue to play a vital role in the F-35 enterprise meeting its growing worldwide demand while also expanding the significant role European industry has in the global supply chain. Lockheed Martin continues to actively explore additional industrial participation opportunities that will enable partnerships across German industry and create jobs in 5th Generation fighter aircraft manufacturing, sustainment, training, research and development.
Germany's program of record calls for 35 F-35As. The first eight aircraft will be delivered to Ebbing Air National Guard Base in Arkansas for pilot training beginning this fall. The first German F-35s will arrive in-country in late 2027.

Lockheed Martin Secures $1.2B Contract for Precision Strike Missile Increment 2 After Second Maritime Test
New PrSM demonstrates moving target engagement expanding the U.S. Army's mission set
DALLAS, Sept. 21, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- The U.S. Army has awarded Lockheed Martin (NYSE:LMT) an indefinite delivery, indefinite quantity (IDIQ) contract worth up to $1.2 billion to produce Increment 2 of the Precision Strike Missile (PrSM), further strengthening the nation's Arsenal of Freedom after a second flight test demonstrated the missile's ability to engage moving maritime targets.

THE BIG PICTURE

• Contract: The IDIQ covers initial procurement and future orders of PrSM Increment 2 missiles, follow-on production and continued development. Work will be performed at Lockheed Martin facilities and across the company's U.S. industrial base.
• Test: PrSM Increment 2 completed its first flight test in March and its second flight test in August – obtaining critical data during flight, launching from a HIMARS, deploying protective covers and engaging the target. Technologies developed through Lockheed Martin's Strigo family of solutions have informed aspects of the PrSM Increment 2 guidance package. Additional PrSM Increment 2 flight tests are scheduled for 2027.
• Investment: This award builds on the Department of War's broader investment in PrSM. Lockheed Martin is expanding capacity to quadruple PrSM production while continuing to develop additional PrSM increments.

WHY IT MATTERS
The award moves PrSM Increment 2 from development and flight testing into production, advancing the Army's next-generation long-range precision fires capability. Increment 2 adds a multimode seeker designed to enable the missile to engage moving land and maritime targets, expanding the Army's long-range strike options.

Mexico Expands C-130J Super Hercules Fleet with Second Aircraft
BETHESDA, Md., Sept. 23, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- The Fuerza Aérea Mexicana (FAM) recently announced the acquisition of a second Lockheed Martin (NYSE: LMT) C‑130J‑30 Super Hercules tactical airlifter, solidifying Mexico's role as a regional leader in air mobility. The addition of the second Super Hercules follows the first aircraft acquisition announced in January 2026, which made Mexico the first nation in Latin America to join the global Super Hercules fleet.
A long‑time Hercules operator, the FAM is recapitalizing its legacy fleet with the C‑130J‑30 Super Hercules–a stretch variant that adds 15 feet of cargo space. The aircraft provides increased power, range, fuel efficiency and payload capacity, enabling the FAM to meet any tactical airlift requirement while leveraging decades of operational, maintenance and logistics experience with the Hercules.

The Super Hercules provides the FAM with what no other tactical airlifter can deliver: certified multi‑mission versatility, proven operational performance, a true global presence, known capabilities and trusted reliability – all backed by an enterprise‑wide support network that ensures sustained readiness for decades to come.
The expanded capability arrives at a critical moment. Shortly after the twin earthquakes that struck Venezuela, the first C‑130J‑30 was employed to deliver emergency supplies, medical aid and personnel to the disaster area. The second aircraft will double that response capability, allowing Mexico to sustain rapid humanitarian assistance throughout Latin America and reinforce its strategic air‑lift role in support of regional security.

Modernizing a Proven Force: Connecting M270A2 to the Joint Fight

The M270 Multiple Launch Rocket System (MLRS) has been a cornerstone of precision fires for decades. Today, the U.S. Army is investing in its future, awarding Lockheed Martin contracts to recapitalize additional M270 systems as the M270A2.
In September, the Army awarded Lockheed Martin $200 million toward this effort, building on previous modernization contracts. Together, these investments reflect continued demand for a proven platform and its role in the Army’s evolving precision-fires architecture.
But modernization is more than upgrading a launcher. It is about creating a more connected force – one where M270A2 works alongside M142 High Mobility Artillery Rocket System (HIMARS), joint forces and allied systems.

One Family of Precision Fires​

M270A2 and HIMARS bring different strengths to the battlefield but share a common foundation. Both use the Common Fire Control System (CFCS) and a family of precision munitions, including GMLRS, Extended-Range GMLRS and the Precision Strike Missile.
That commonality helps simplify training and logistics while giving commanders greater flexibility to employ the right launcher for the mission.
The M270A2 provides the mobility, protection and capacity of a tracked platform, while HIMARS offers a highly mobile, wheeled solution. Together, they provide complementary capabilities within a common precision-fires ecosystem.

Designed for the Joint Fight​

As the battlefield becomes increasingly connected, precision fires must operate alongside forces from multiple services and nations.
The M270A2 is being modernized with that environment in mind. Its fire control system and compatibility with next-generation munitions allow the platform to evolve alongside the broader precision-fires portfolio rather than operate as a standalone system.
That interoperability also extends to U.S. allies and partners that operate M270 and HIMARS systems.
