Turkish CASA patrol mission

Immagine-4-750x375.jpg

Turkish Navy CASA CN-235 MSA (reg. TCB-652 – callsign TURNA48) is making a patrol mission over eastern Mediterranean Sea south of Cyprus.

The CASA is based in NAS Izmit but we’ve not the first rack of the flight.

Turkey confirms to continue with its drilling program in areas of the East Mediterranean claimed by Cyprus, despite the EU Council adopting a framework for sanctions that can be imposed against those held responsible.

In this chart you can see the drilling areas assigned to different EU/extra EU companies.

I feel that it would be great if we could build this kind of plane by ourselves, even the engine part. Because of it's EWAC capabilities.

I think Turkey will transfer such capabilities to the developing UAV technology. We may see different UAV combinations in the years to come.

We need to strengthen our defence industry cooperation with Indonesia. They have the know how for such aircraft and are more reliable than CASA (Now EADS).

Meanwhile CASA is approaching and offering ToT, licensed production and offset agreements, while Indonesia doesn't.

In my opinion we should lean towards a bigger MPA with longer loitering time + aerial refueling, whlie developing MPA UAVs on the side, utilizing MPAs as a hub- connection relay- processing -decision making center and coordinating UAV operations to patrol or to scramble rapid-response ASuW UAVs when needed.

Here:

Maritime patrol and Signal intelligence variant of Aksungur will be perfectly suited to its specific mission profiles. This beast can stay on air around 30h with 12 MAM-L munitions and 50h with empty weight. Aegeansea and E.Med will be non-stop monitored by these drones.

The Turkish navy successfully conducted a submarine defense rocket fire drill as part of submarine defense training, the country's National Defense Ministry said on Thursday. The ministry in a Twitter statement said Turkey's TCG BODRUM corvette successfully fired the rocket in the Aegean Sea on Dec. 22.

Situation is heating up our Navy needs much more money the combat fleet has to grow.

They are patroling not only our seas but also protecting TPAO vessels, operating on the shores of Libya probably elsewhere too and participate in exercises and visit friendly countries.

Our current ships can't satisfy our needs any longer.
