According to the unofficial agreement reached with Turkey, Greece decided to close the Lavrion camp, a terrorist home. In response, Turkey will extend the moratorium on refraining from exercises in the international waters and airspace of the Aegean between June 15 and September 15.

Greece Offers Turkey Shared Energy Strategy, Project During Truce

Tensions between Greece and Turkey, which were once close to conflict, have now decreased enough for Greece to propose the idea of participating in energy projects in disputed seas. Ahead of May elections in both countries, which are significant tests for Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis and President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Foreign Minister Nikos Dendias suggested that the two countries should seize the moment and capitalize on the decreased tensions.

In an interview with Greece’s state broadcaster ERT, Dendias stated that both sides should sit down after the elections and discuss the possibility of sharing potentially profitable energy projects instead of fighting over them. This proposal assumes that both leaders will return to power.

Foreign Minister Nikos Dendias emphasized the importance of not wasting the opportunity for cooperation during the current rapprochement between Greece and Turkey. He stated that the situation could easily become more volatile again, which could negatively impact the political atmosphere.

The recent deadly earthquake in Turkey, which saw Greece sending recovery teams, and Turkey sending condolences over a train collision in Greece that killed 57, brought a thaw in the frosty relations between the two countries. Daily and dangerous overflights in the Aegean by Turkish warplanes have ceased, and communication has resumed.

Both countries have an interest in the potential profits from the East Mediterranean Gas Forum, which includes regional states like Israel, Egypt, and Jordan. However, this would require the consent of the other partners, and Turkey has to change its belligerent stance and put on charm offensives to persuade other countries that it wants peace and profits.

Other prospective cooperation includes a nearly $4 billion grid connector that would stream across the Mediterranean. Greece and Egypt want to build this connector in the coming years to tap into lucrative reserves that are currently being explored, as reported by The Voice of America (VOA).

Turkey has disputed Greece’s exclusive claim to certain areas in the eastern Mediterranean, leading to tension and naval standoffs between the two sides in recent years.

The upcoming elections in both Greece and Turkey will have a significant impact on the future of their relationship. Despite the current calm, President Erdogan has renewed territorial claims against Greece during his campaign, as have other Turkish officials, which could reignite tensions.

The New Democracy government of Greece believes that Erdogan is merely making these claims to appeal to his nationalist hard-core base as he faces a challenge to his 20 years of hard-line rule.

Dendias acknowledged that 63 previous attempts to restart constructive dialogue between Greece and Turkey have failed. However, he expressed hope for a 64th attempt after the elections, depending on the results.

In an interview with the Sunday edition of Makedonia newspaper, Dendias stated that Greece is fully aware of the difficulties in its bilateral relations with Turkey. The country hopes to preserve the current calmness and remains focused on its adamant position for sincere and constructive dialogue for the resolution of differences in the context of international law and the international law of the sea, which Turkey does not recognize.

Dendias is convinced that the climate that has been formed in Greek-Turkish relations must continue to ensure the smooth course of the country and not to return to the conditions of instability and uncertainty of the period of the Memoranda, referring to harsh terms attached to international bailouts.

shameless. Years of building coalitions to try and attack Turkiye now "greeks bearing gifts". Absolutely shameless behaviour.

Those coalitions failed.

The Greeks are naive to believe entitlement works. We seen how that worked for the Armenians when they got smashed by Azerbaijan the Americans, French and the Russians all looked away.

Until the Americans and the French begged the Russians to bail out the Armenians.

British and the French even goaded the Greeks to invade Anatolia when the Ottoman Empire collapsed thinking it will be easy pickings until they got smashed.

But the Greeks are trying to hard to get that 12nm for their islands.

Greece's maximalist demands didn't bear any fruits.
But regardless, this is foreign policy after all, I think its positive and good that Dendias is showing their willingness to cooperate.

It shows its desperation and necessity. With Egypt signaling détente with Türkiye, Greece has little left.

Both the EastMed Pipeline and the Grid Connector will be less expensive and more feasible through Turkish waters and with Turkey onboard. I think everyone knows this.

They were over eager to use the Anti-Turkish momentum for their own gains but you cant change hard facts such as geography, geopolitics and economics.

We mustn't fall into a false sense of security. Underneath this veneer of sweetness, there's pure vitriol.
Gotta be vigilant.

politically speaking greeks are very similar to armenians, in their hearts nothing but insecurity, inadequacy and hostile intent. However the greek state isnt as mental as to take the deep dive that armenia recently took in starting war with Azerbaijan. This is why greece constantly rushed to side with anyone that was against Turkiye even when its dictator warlords like haftar. These guys were even taking foreign visits to African nations and trying to talk to them about Turkiye and why they should be against Turkiye. Its some of the most cringe shit you can witness.

These same greeks were gloating and advertising on state TV that 800 spartans were being sent to armenia to fight Azerbijan, the same state landed planes in northern iraq to ship PKK terrorists to fight on the side of armenia. Once the war was lost the greeks completely forgot about the greeks who died fighting against Azerbaijan. In typical honourless fashion those dead greeks are completely forgotten about, no more then fertiliser for the liberated lands to start anew.

So yeah either its to buy time hoping they screw us later or they are finally starting to bend the knee once they realised that their dreams of an isolated Turkiye were no more then piss in the wind.

Actually there are geopolitical analysts here who claim the best friend and ally of Greece is Erdogan himself. We really wish he is healthy and is the president for many years to come. This was after he started insulting the leaders of USA, France and I don't know who else. He thinks those countries are like Greece. They will remember how he treated their leaders when the time comes. Erdogan is the one who isolates Turkey. Greece is not the enemy of Turkey. What if in a case of war between Turkey and Greece all the countries that have something against Turkey decide this is an opportunity and try to attack you at the same time?

Are you sure Greece, PKK and Armenians are your biggest enemies? One day your NATO allies others than Greece and a certain country that builds you a certain nuclear plant might try to devide Turkey between them and this time succeed. Will Azerbaijan and Pakistan be able to help you then?

We are not that naive. We know very well no European country will send even one soldier to fight for Greece, they will just eat pop corn and see what happens for a while and then maybe try to intervene.
You blame Greece because we ask for help from other countries. Didn't Kemal Ataturk take money and weapons from other countries? If he hadn't what would the result have been, no mater how capable and brave he and his soldiers were?

Turkey is growing and while growing it will face resistance with those who doesnt want it to grow whether it is rivals or the top big 3... period

The reason Turkey is being alienated is because the Western world is scared from the Turkish arms industry and pls lets not play the game of democracy..... if the West cares about democracy that much, then they should first punish the prince who threw a journalist body parts in acid or a dictator that is residng in both libya and egypt

Care to explain why Western media and PKK are promoting Turkish TB2s as weapons of mass destruction even though they are the weapons kicking Russia's ass in Ukraine and Libya?

Reality is that they are qualified as such by delusional, paid US politicians by both Greece and Armenia. I follow the media here and surprisingly the TB2’s are actually praised. Surely because it is used by Ukraine against Russia.

Ataturk did get support from the Soviets.

Ataturk went to great lengths to get support so they get funds and arms from countries world wide.

You do realise Ataturk tried to build an army off the remanants of a collapsed empire.

Dont forget if Greeks like bitching about foreign support you guy got lots of support from the British and the French.

Your invasion of Anatolia was made possible from the Allies thats how you took Izmir also the Americans helped you bomb Samsun.

Greece should not be crying about foreign support.

Greece escaped Ww1 unharmed and joined in the last minute.

Basically barely suffered compared to other nations who suffered heavy casualties.

Greece had the material, soldiers and the support to invade anatolia. What made you guys lose exactly like the Russians.

Shit logistics and underestimating the Turks due to the Ottoman Empire losing wars and collapsing. Greeks believed the Turks were easy pickings.

Turkish officers were trained in stormtrooper methods of the Germans. Ataturk's offensive was made possible as the Greeks got further into Anatolia their supply lines got cut then came the counterattack.

Greeks should be happy the Turks did not go further by the time the Turks took Izmir back the army was already exhausted and the Turkish people were basically done fighting.

Our Government fucking around with sinking KAAN and all the while the enemies are looking at political moves to checkmate us.

I was thinking this kind of crap might appear when government mentioned including Pakistan into the KAAN project.

When you don't have KAAN flying in the hundreds and have old F-16 (only vipers and no 70's) and you end up getting sanctioned and can't do shit, then US will build a base, and Greece will expand sea miles up to 12, and you can't do shit.

"
Daily Ta Nea stated that if the proposal is included in the final version of the defense budget, the issue of establishing new U.S. bases in Greece could be discussed in 2026 at the earliest, considering the proposal as a positive development for Athens.

The pro-opposition daily Efsyn reported that in diplomatic circles, it was considered almost impossible for Meng's proposal to be included in the final version of the NDAA."

A few sentences from the news.

I had my doubts about the seriousness of this news. These seem like the work of the sold-out Greek diaspora. In any case, this proposal will probably never see the light of day.
