Are the current tensions higher than what was seen in the 90s?

Not as high as in the Imia/Kardak crisis, or the 1987 crisis. Pretty high tensions otherwise. Have in mind that now with Twitter and other social media coverage the whole thing looks a lot more dire and serious than what it essentially is.

Today a French Air Force C135FR took off from Istres-Le Tubé airbase with an unknown number of Rafales towards Cyprus, circled off the island and went back to France.

An A400M also took the direction of Cyprus.

If Greek Cypriots are gonna continue with these tactics, inviting foreign powers having nothing to do with east med, I'm expecting after the elections in trnc the opening of maraş, ending the talks and the start with lobbying for recognition of TRNC in the international arena.. There are about 20 countries ready to do that but are holding back because of the talks. Its better France stay out of this and keep the status quo.

Sorry but I don’t see any country recognizing TRNC. They don’t have to do anything because there is nothing to gain from it. If they had 2 billion m3 gas, sure. Something could be done. But they have nothing. Except maybe Maras.

GC had join because the greek were blocking for the other candidate countries. Turkey could have stopped it, but we were too thck about being a candidate country and too many feto ppl.
