We can exert pressure to both Russia and prevent China s expansion into West. We can replace them by being a production hub for Europe and US. We need to talk these things with US and others. If they say no, we shouldnt waste much time and open up our harbors to China, until we can stand firmly on our feet. Actually this is more with regard to power play in the region.The US or western countries will rather have Israel dominating the region compared to Turkey.
We can even see this play currently in Syria where no countries will like erdogan to attack syria again.

Its worth keeping in mind that when the Russians killed the Turkish troops, Erdogan did everything to hide it. When your enemy sees you behave like that, they know they got you by the balls.

I think Erdogan has contributed a lot to our defense industry, this is undeniable and I appreciate that. And it is easy for us to say from our comfortable chair all enemies should simply be crashed. Still, talking too much about military operations in advance somehow leaves a bad taste and questions arise about its political motivation. We should learn not to mix inner politics and religion with state affairs and international relations. This has costed Turkey isolation, 5 mio. refugees, and self-created economic destruction.
