A base in northeastern Syria has been hit by a Turkish drone strike. The base is used by an international coalition.

A Syrian military base, which the US international coalition also uses, was hit by an attack by a Turkish drone on Tuesday.

This is reported by both the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (Sohr) and the Kurdish forces in the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF).

Farhad Shami, spokesman for the SDF, told the AFP news agency:
"A joint military base north of Hasakeh, which was used to plan and carry out attacks against the Islamic State, has been hit by a Turkish drone."

The spokesman adds that two soldiers from the SDF were killed in the attack.

The British-based monitoring group Sohr also writes that two people have been killed. It also sounds like three others are seriously injured.

Sohr does not state whether there were soldiers from the international coalition present at the military base when the drone attack took place.

The drone attack is the latest in a series of attacks in the area around the Turkish and Syrian borders. The attacks came after six people were killed in an attack on the Turkish city of Istanbul.

Turkey has blamed the Kurdish PKK militia for the attack in Istanbul. The PKK is on the EU's terrorist list and has been rebelling on Turkish soil for years.

On Monday, a missile attack hit the Turkish border area of Karkamis.

The Turkish edition of the news station CNN writes that a total of five missiles were fired from northern Syria's Kobani area. It is an area controlled by the Kurdish YPG militia.

Turkey considers the YPG a terrorist group linked to the PKK.

The missiles reportedly hit a school, two houses and a truck. Two were killed.

Pay attention to the narrative in the article.

They're saying Turkey attacked an airfield used by US and Coalition forces. They do add that they do not know if any US personelle are on the airbase.

At the same time they're linking Turkey's attack to the Istanbul bombing that Turkey says are committed by PKK. Then they mention 5 missile attacks hitting Turkey, where they mention "allegedly" killing 2.

They're glossing over what was hit to keep the narrative PKK / Coalition+US friendly.

They don't want to write US ally SDF targetting School and civilian infrastructure in Turkey causing death and injuries.
