We have always been a reactionary people. We are happy to live peacefully and in solitude. Truth be told we only grow and advance when under attack. If no one attacks us we would be happy to ride horses in the fields and care little for geopolitics. When the war was going on in Karabagh, the Russians bombed a Turkish backed security camp in tel rifat. It was interesting to see that they didnt have the balls this time to directly target Turkish troops fearing the reaction that could come.

Because its not really about erdogan, its about public sentiment. When those troops were killed in a typically cheap and low fashion by Russia, the entire Turkish state wanted war.
