Tolun is a conceptual twin to GBU-39 Small Diameter Bomb. It's a small(100kgs), highly precise bomb that can be carried in high numbers by small fighters. F-16 can carry 8 at a time. For high value targets like VIPs, aircraft and radar installations on an airbase, complete air defence complexes, important points in military bases, a flight of 2 F-16s with a typical combat load can carry 16 Toluns, compared to a maximum of 8 Mk-82s in double racks. While a 4 aircraft flight can carry 32 compared to 16 Mk-82s. It basically lets you engage many times targets in a single sortie compared to regular guided bombs.

It's directly analogous to GBU-39, which is of course used by multiple countries that are close to US, including us in the future, but only few have such a munition they own themselves. An IIR variant closer to GBU-59 is also in the works.

This missile group is perfect for the Sea of Islands and other seas with a similar structure. We are mostly platform-based discussing, but in terms of ammunition and electronic systems, we are going through a period in which we will truly disrupt the traditional balance of power around us and further consolidate our dominant position.

By the way, I might be reading too much into this and the missiles on the first test fire from last year had no guidance sections probably, but unlike those missiles with a supposed RF seeker, this Çakır has an IIR seeker.

They cut any shots of engine ignition again. I have yet to see any Kale engine being used in actual test fire.
Would you be able to see if it is a Kale engine if they had shown the ignition? If not, what is the point of your comment?

Point is, is there a working engine or not? Are we able to please deliver and mass produce one critical product with local engines?

Do you suspect the test was conducted as a free fall bomb?
Point is, is there a working engine or not? Are we able to please deliver and mass produce one critical product with local engines?

Unless they openly lied, KJT-1750 was supposed to be delivered before the end of 2023 and flight tests were supposed to start, which could be this very launch.

It was previously stated that the ÇAKIR LIR could be used to jam all EW platforms. Accordingly, the missile would be able to mimic the radar signature of an F-16 or other user-specified aircraft to force enemy air defense systems to turn on their radars while in the air. In this case, the missile is expected to include a Signature Augmentation Subsystem (SAS) consisting of multiple active radar amplifiers covering different frequencies that will allow it to identify itself to enemy air defense systems as aircraft with different RCS signatures in the Turkish Air Force inventory (E-7T HIK, KC-135R Stratotanker, F-16 and F-4E 2020 etc.). The missile will also be equipped with an RF Jammer to jam enemy air defense systems when necessary. However, for this type of SEAD mission, the ÇAKIR LIR will need to be capable of loitering over the target area, like the existing ADM-160B/C and TALD/ITALD tactical decoys/jammers in the market, and its flight time should be 45 minutes+ depending on altitude. Since the thrust of the KTJ-1750 Turbojet Engine, which has a low fuel consumption value, can be changed during the flight, ÇAKIR LIR will be able to circulate in the air for periods that can meet the requirements with low cruising speed.


Imagine 4 AKINCI and USVs each taking off with 4 ÇAKIR missiles in different configurations. This missile is a checkmate move in a cramped theater with many archipelagos and intertwined territorial waters.

I am not knowledgeable on jet engines but I have found 1500 N Turbomeca TRS 18-1's specs here.

While TRS 18-1 consumes 1.20 kg/h/daN (which is 33.4 mg/Ns as listed), KTJ1750 uses 1.17 kg/h/daN. What am I missing?
TRS 18-1 consumes 33.33 mg/Ns.
KTJ1750 consumes 32.5 mg/Ns. Is that correct
