GM of Roketsan just had a go at Aselsan and SAGE - He said that there should be more cooperation among the companies so that projects could be worked together and R&D costs could be shared whilst preventing the development of the same type of weapon system by various companies.
what roketsan does with iir sensor etc. is good news for the company. they should improve their capabilities like raytheon also focuses on many electronic systems. we are not usa so we can not spend much money on everyting. however roketsan also should improve its electronic and avionis departments not to counter aselsan etc. but to improve its own technologies and capabilities.

Great news. Finally YTKBs will have indigenously built ASW rockets.
I hope that these boats will also be furnished with more assault weapons of ASUW class like MRAShMs and defensive weapons like Gokdeniz ER and/or Sungur.

Some people like me may not immediately remember how ASW rockets work, so found this

Tests of YALMAN integrated Kaplan STA begin

According to the information obtained by Defense Turk at the IKA ART event held at FNSS facilities, the verification tests and deliveries of the Roketsan YALMAN/KMC weapon system integrated Kaplan STA will begin in late 2021 or 2022. Although Roketsan has been working on integration for a while, there was a delay of nearly 1 year in the project due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

YALMAN/KMC and KAPLAN-10 with integrated Electro Optic on the mast were showcased in August 2020. YALMAN/KMC, which has 2 UMTAS and 4 CİRİT (in a pod) on it, was also exhibited at IDEF'21.

YALMAN/KMC weapon system developed by Roketsan; It has a modular structure that can be applied to land and sea platforms and allows the use of different ammunition in the same tower. YALMAN/KMC, which is currently used in the ULAQ unmanned sea vehicle and integrated into the Burak class corvettes for test purposes; It will be able to use OMTAS, UMTAS, CİRİT and SUNGUR missiles. In addition, work continues on the integration of a 7.62mm machine gun into the weapon system.

YALMAN/KMC stands out as a special solution developed for launching Laser and Infrared Imaging Seeker (IIR) guided missiles with its high mobility, 360° rotation feature and stabilized turret system that can be controlled from within the vehicle.

KMC-UMTAS-2-ROKETSAN-FNSS-KAPLAN-1536x864.jpg

Thanks to its stabilized turret, the KMC Weapon System, which provides the ability to shoot on the move up to 40 km/h, offers the user a high hit capability up to 8 km. In addition, with the mast-mounted electro-optical system that comes with it, it can carry out reconnaissance and surveillance activities from behind the suture up to a range of 20 km.

Compared to the existing UKTK, which is lighter and has a lower payload, YALMAN/KMC can be seen as a solution that benefits more from the potential for palletized platforms with higher payloads such as KAPLAN-10. In addition to higher firepower, the simultaneous use of different types of missiles and the integration of new weapons into the system from time to time put it in a different position in terms of modularity and operational flexibility.

Is the range of the UMATS missile here 8 km?
If so, why is OMTAS used in other vehicles instead of UMATS, as it is better in terms of range and engagement ability from outside the tank's kill zone ?

Omtas is a missile also usable by one man with a tripod. It has lower minimum range (200m). It has a dual thrust rocket engine (boost and sustain). It was recently classified as the second best man portable anti tank weapon in the world. It is 24kg in weight. (35kg with the tube). It has an IIR seeker head.
Umtas has longer minimum range (500m). It has a solid fuel rocket engine. It is similar to Hellfire. Not man portable. It is specifically produced for air to surface attack. But can be used surface to surface too.
They are different with different end uses.

I heard from very respectable sources that OMTAS hit a target at 5.5km in firing tests executed by Turkish Land Forces.

ı prefer two of this one is iskele and another sancak instead of one gökdeniz on top,I also prefer two aselsan gökdeniz-ER instead of one RAM-21 missiles system with expected more stealthy and the reaction time shortened for incoming anti ship missiles, and improved fire angel for gökdenzi
