KAGEM will most likely be a loitering UAV with highly developed autonomous capabilities. It is necessary to think not only with warheads, but also with very different payloads. It is also likely to be launch and controllable by reconnaissance/attack helicopters. With its size, geometry and the limited specs known/estimated for now, it is very reminiscent of the low cost autonomous attack system/surveililling miniature attack cruise missile projects carried out in the US in the past.

Nobody claimed they produced the components in house and that’s impossible. Russia is using Western chips for almost everything they make.

- Teams of engineers with decades of experience can develop programs in relatively fast time especially when they have done it before(DENEL DYNAMICS). Your claim of the programs being from Europe/ South Africa are 100% false.

I have written many times in various platforms over the years that our reconnaissance/attack helicopters should have a cost-effective mini-loitering system that will reach an endurance of >100 nmi with over 30-50 lbf turbojet propulsion similar to that of the LOCAAS project designed under the SBS program, (and this type was largely related to the RAH-66 project).

In the US, of course, there have been much more important and mass-producible SBS system developments after this project. At the same time, the increasing capabilities of tactical UAVs in particular have led to significant changes in operational doctrines. Nevertheless, with the idea that it could be a precedent development program, the outlines of the system were as follows:

• Weight: 100 lb (45 kg)
• Length: 36 in (910 mm)
• Speed: 200 knots (370 km/h)
• Search altitude: 750 ft (230 m)
• Footprint: 25 sq nmi (86 km2)
• Motor: 30 lbf (130 N) thrust class turbojet.
• Range: >100 nmi (190 km)
• Loiter time: 30 min max.
• Guidance: GPS/INS with LADAR terminal seeker
• Warhead: 7.7 kg (17 lb) multi-mode explosively formed projectile (long rod penetrator, aerostable slug or fragmentation)

After being launched from a weapon platform, it is guided by GPS/INS to the target general area, where it can loiter. A laser radar (LIDAR or LADAR) illuminates the targets, determines their range, and matches their 3-D geometry with pre-loaded signatures. The LOCAAS system then selects the highest priority target and selects the warhead's mode for the best effect.

It was part of the Small Bomb System (SBS) program. The LOCAAS has been cancelled.

Do you understand that that is a highly specialized system? I’m speaking of COTS electronics and mechanical components which are able to be used in most UAVs/missiles.

Taiwan and the US could cut off most of the worlds electronic chip supply and it would take a long, long time for countries to become independent.

it was a special mixed elements with piezo and something have to search for it. But we have spend a lot of time on it.

I’m gonna be very blunt right now, most of the work being done in the UAE industry is by South Africans. Brazilians are now coming in fairly large numbers.

They saw the opportunity and took it and it was a smart decision. If they tried to start from scratch they’d be moving at snails pace.

That’s not right, it was originally developed by Denel under contract and this is from South African sources. IP was sold in whole to EDGE down the line. This is from years ago I’d say 2017-2016.

It is not a cooperation that covers all sub-components of a whole system. Just supports the UAE's indigenization efforts in some spesific areas. Inter-institutional workshops and protocols signed in the last two years are to provide bureaucratic convenience in these areas. We are not the only country already providing support. As Philip wrote above, many other countries has a much more significant cooperation. If you are asking for my personal opinion, I am in favor of organizing joint workshops with the UAE to explore what we can do together. A culture of working together is one of the most useful tools to align national interests.

In the civilian sector especially, imagine a joint satellite launch vehicle development that could compete with SpaceX, and other major manufacturers.

Turkey alone doesn’t have the capital to invest as heavily as it would need and UAE doesn’t have the expertise but imagine if the two went at it together.

You must look at it from the bigger picture. Middle East and the surrounding areas geopolitics are really complicated though unfortunately.
