Is it true Morocco has allocated $40 billion for defense purchase?

Correction it is actually $22 billion allocated in the period of 2019-2021
That is a lot of money. Do you know what the Moroccans are interested in? I've heard they want the F-35. And does the allocation include the Apache deal and the 25 F-16V plus 23 upgrade packages, the MICA VL and Cesaer SPG?

I guess the share for the air force is depleted and we'll see deals concerning the army and navy. More tanks and new APC's/IFV's and the navy gets submarines? Do you have an idea what the 'omega' ships are going to be?

Morocco to receive the Gulfstream G-550 spy plane

512px-120516_Independence_Flypast_Nachshons_01.jpg

In its Monday issue, Arabic-language newspaper Al Ahdath Al Maghribia announced that the Royal Armed Forces will be receiving, in early 2021, a Gulfstream G-550 aircraft equipped with spy technologies that are capable of blinding enemy defenses. The Kingdom concluded, on January 31, 2019, an agreement with manufacturer Raytheon for the acquisition of four devices of this type.

The Gulfstream G-550 business jet is equipped with an Israeli-American made intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR) system.

For the record, Morocco ordered for the first time this modified plane from the United States on May 18, 2009 as reported by the «Defense Security Cooperation Agency» in a press release announcing the Congress’ approval of the sale. The acquisition cost was estimated at $ 142 million, according to the same source.

Regarding the financing of this contract, the Intelligence Online site had mentioned, in January 2018, the possible assistance of Saudi Arabia. Nevertheless, almost three years ago, relations between Rabat and Riyadh went through a zone of turbulence. In February 2019, the Moroccan ambassador to Saudi Arabia was summoned for consultation.

Algeria also ordered, in 2016, from American company Raytheon the conversion of three Gulfstream G-550 business jets to transform them into spy planes.

U.S. Set to OK MQ-9B Drone Sales to Morocco after it Normalizes Ties with Israel

U.S. Set to OK MQ-9B Drone Sales to Morocco after it Normalizes Ties with Israel

The United States is set to approve the sale of MQ-9B SeaGuardian drones to Morocco soon after the Middle East country announced the normalization of ties with Israel.
As part of the U.S.-brokered deal to normalize relations with Israel, Washington has agreed to recognize Morocco's claim over the Western Sahara region over which it locked in a dispute with the Algeria-backed Polisario Front. The deal was made public in a series of Tweets by U.S. President Donald Trump yesterday.
“Another HISTORIC breakthrough today! Our two GREAT friends Israel and the Kingdom of Morocco have agreed to full diplomatic relations – a massive breakthrough for peace in the Middle East!” one of Trump's tweets read.
U.S. Set to OK MQ-9B Drone Sales to Morocco after it Normalizes Ties with Israel

In addition, the U.S. will sell Morocco MQ-9B SeaGuardian drones which could help it to secure the vast desert and maritime boundary of the Western Sahara region.
The deal for four drones had been in the works for months and Congress could give a green signal in the coming days, Reuters reported citing sources. It is not known whether the contract will include weapons.
Notably, the Trump administration had approved $23.4 billion arms sales including F-35 fighters and MQ-9B drones to the U.A.E. soon after signing of the Abraham Accord or normalization deal with Israel.
