Morocco is interested in the RedBack IFV armored combat vehicle manufactured by South Korea
According to the Asia Pacific Defense Reporter magazine, which added that all interested countries, including Greece and Italy, are awaiting the results of the armored vehicle tests in Australia.

Pretty sure that Greece will purchase KF-41 Lynx IFV. They‘re already welding Leopard 2 hulls for KMW and planning to build Lynx with Rheinmetall at home. Greeks are also financially firmly in Germany‘s pocket.

Italy recently signed a deal for new Leo 2A8, has ongoing defense projects with Germany‘s MIC (U212 submarines), so they‘ll go with Lynx or European armor (CV90).

As for Morocco there were no significant weapons deals with South Korea in the past. Would be interesting to see a „desert version“ of Redback IFV.

IMO, financially this is out of reach for a country like Morocco.
Each Redback costs over $35 millions.
Even to just a brigade size formation (128× Redback) it would cost $4.5 billions.)

Nah, that‘s the unit price for Australia. They total up procurement AND lifecycle & operation costs of 30 years in the contract.

A regular Redback built in Korea or in the Aussie Hanwha plant would cost less than any Lynx or CV90.

Romania plans to procure new IFV with a unit price of ~$11.1 mil (€10.3 mil) in the 1st batch.

Estimated unit costs:
Lynx ~$9.9 mil (€9.17 mil in Hungary deal)
CV90 ~$12 mil (€11.1 mil in Slovakia deal)

Redback will be in a similar ballpark but slightly below.

One of the concern with these vehicles is they suck up huge amount of fuel. Thus, sustainemnt become an issue.
However, as Ukraine war showed, if you are fighting in your own country fuel is not serious problem. As you can utilize all the pre-planned civilian infrastructures.
On the other hand if you are a invading force (like Russia) then you will get yourself in trouble if you don't have a robust logistic support.

it can't be 35 million USD , that's just illogical , AND we did bigger deals so it leaves our financial capabilities out of question

You guys have a nice set up of MBT with M1A1 Abrams and Merkavas. The Israeli Elbit turret with Spike LR (or Aussie EOS derivate) and Iron Fist APS on Redback wouldn’t be a problem. And not much strings attached in contrast of going with the Germans or Swedes/Brits.

Latest K9 deal with Egypt shows that Koreans are interested to get a foothold on the North African arms market.

yes M1A1SA/M1A2 SEP V3 , Merkava Mk3M , T-72M1CZ (some of them were upgraded in the Czech republic , the rest of our fleet was upgraded locally) , M60A3TTS ,VT-1A and AMX-10RC

yes it also has the IronVision that acts like a CITV but in a stealthy way

Morocco are looking to build a huge fleet of IFV. The first IFV to enter service would be the Bradley/Stryker. We are looking for advanced next-gen IFV like the Redback IFV, aswell as cheaper IFV around 3-6 million as price. A big deal has reached final stages, if not already signed of more then 100+ IFV. If we are going for a next-gen IFV then i would prefer Morocco to strenghten its ties with South-Korea rather then a european power like Germany.

Morocco better should standardize their Tanks and APC/IFV's because that slowly looks like a very exotic noodle soup with all the variety... the Tank fleet for example T-72 (Russia), M60 & M1A1 (USA), Merkava III (Israel), Al Khalid aka VT-1 (Pakistan-China), AMX-10 (France) yeah it's not a Tank more a Tank destroyer. Same with their APC/IFV.

That's pretty smart IMO , if a country cuts off resources related to a specific weapon system , you won't have a crisis because u still have other systems from other countries , we did it in the past wars and it basically worked

The tank fleet of the future Moroccan ground forces will be more standardized having both the M1 abrams, as well as the Merkava tanks serving as the main battle tanks. T-72, and VT-1 are in small numbers currently, and most of the M60 tanks are getting old.

Yes slightly more than 600 modern tanks will be in our fleet without the existing models

I hope we will end up with around 1 000 in total between Merkava, and M1 abrams by the end of the decade. The same applies to our IFV fleet.

Hhhhhhhhh too much bro , 1000 tanks are one hell of a load on us , about 600-700 modern tanks are enough along with 300-400 IFVs and the same for 6×6-8×8 vehicles

Morocco is a huge country of 710 850 km². We aspire to become a regional power and therefore, 1,000 tanks, and 1,000 IFVs are needed to elevate our ground forces to new capabilities, and firepower.

Truth to be told, Moroccan economy ($140 billions) is too small for the numbers your are projecting.
