I'm seeing those rectangular pods more and more often, could it be Roketsan released dimensions of the the Medium-range AShM launch pod to the shipyards ?

If so, those pods look like they would fit nicely on back of a truck. :) NLOS who
Those were available on ARES & DEARSAN FAC - FABs for years, Marte-ER launcher. But yes we all know about the OMGFS & KUZGUN-ER now.

Article by Ibrahim Sunnetci;
  • Bidding is delayed to 1st of April (Earlier date was 15th of March)
  • RfP was obtained by Desan Shipyard, Istanbul Shipyard(Not to be confused with Istanbul Pendik Shipyard Command), Dearsan Shipyard, TAIS Shipyards, STM
  • Ongoing Russia-Ukraine war causes issues on material / equipment market, a surplus of price on construction / steel / common equipment is expected by margin of %100
  • STM has finalized the Technical Data Packages*, that will ease the construction and logistics management for the 3 hulls
--- Personal Comments ---

I was a little surprised for not seeing ASFAT among the possible bidders, they were quite radical on the costs and prices (they have claimed of being able to bid for %10 lower than the lowest available bid) and in the end they haven't even obtained the RfP thus they can not bid (unsure if SOE is not bound to acquire RfP in order to bid)**.

Only STM or TAIS may handle the financial burden and risks, STM for being owned by SSB, TAIS for being a concortium with good flow of cash and ongoing commercial projects.

Desan or Istanbul Shipyards has zero chances in my opinion. STM may win the bid, and later share it to TAIS as a subcontractor. If this happens the overall construction, integration and tests will shorted by %10-15 of overall expected duration STM ,however, may pick to work with any shipyard (RMK, Istanbul Shipyard, Dearsan, ADA (ex-Selah) thanks to a scheme and management plan they have established. STM may also choose to work with multiple shipyards to commence construction of all three ships at once.

*TDP is set of procedures and workflow, logistics management, production plans, integration plans that allows any shipyard with a decent capability to fulfill the construction and test procedures on their own. STM has worked via this scheme in Pakistan LSS, Ukrainian ADA and TN TVEG projects.

**This a good sign, possibly indicating the ongoing issues between SSB - MSB was finally settled or brokered by a higher 3rd party.

15 days or even a few months of delay is nothing in a bidding process.

ASFAT can still work as a subcontractor of STM(it is very unlikely big money is involved and private shipyards/political involvement won't let a state shipyard get the job). STM can work with a single shipyard or can also distribute ships to different shipyards as subcontractors if STM wins the tender. One of the requirements of the tender is to construct all 3 ships at the same time as president Erdoğan mentioned. Some of the shipyards have enough slipways to construct 3 ships at the same time, some of the shipyards don't have this capacity so there might be a lag of around 6 months between ships as İbrahim Sünnetçi mentioned depending on which shipyard is chosen. The distribution of ships among shipyards can remedy this lag problem. It will also be good to help and financially subsidize a bunch of shipyards by giving them jobs and providing them with valuable experience in building an advanced navy frigate.

On a side note, İstanbul Pendik Shipyard Command is getting ready for the TF-2000 first steel cut in 2023. The TF-2000 process will start this year.

Naval office is already handing out the engineering jobs, it means the Navy is funding TF-2000 through some R&D or modernization funds for the beginning - contract design stage.
Probably they will opt for I-Class initially and TF-2000 will be approved in the next one.

Engineering & design packages of TF-2000 will be distributed / awarded by the end of the Q1 2022. At this pace the details of the design will emerge by Q2 2023 thus a RfP process for the construction may be commenced by the end of the 2023.

The first hull will be tagged as a prototype and constructed in the Pendik Naval Shipyard, contrary to what SSB desires to construct in a private shipyard via a bidding process. As the manager of the TF-2000 project Design Project Office (DPO) of the TN has right to choose any shipyard to work with. Tagging a hull as prototype also makes it available to be funded from alternative sources-funds.

MILDEN's engineering & design packages is planned to be assigned in 2023. Concept design is nearing completing, Preliminary design stage will be commenced within this year. Differently from surface assets, MILDEN's preliminary design stage will have more design iterations.

Turkish Type OPV (AKDG) project's serial construction RfP will be issued by the end of 2022. ASFAT will complete the TVP (Technical Data Packages) of the OPV design and construction will accelerate in the second half of the 2022, as the contract stage of the design is completed.

AH 1 W with navy paint

They are just entering Navy service this year but their days as the only marine capable assault chopper in our possession are counted. I hope they get a well deserved retirement when they are done serving.

I'd like to see some marinized T-129s to replace them or even T-629, would be nice to fill the gap with similar sized helicopter.
