The LMP Multipurpose Modular Launcher from Naval Group

Concretely, the LPM is a mobile modular system of 3 tonnes, composed of 4 containers each capable of implementing 4 Mistral 3 anti-aircraft or anti-missile missiles, 2 anti-submarine grenades, infrared decoys or 10 laser-guided rockets of 70 mm.

pyrotechnic* deflectors located at the rear of the launcher prevents combustion jets from causing damage to fragile structures such as antennas.

Our point defense systems should have this pyrotechnic deflector shits in order to put launchers on everywhere of a warship.

If this is a variant of MIDLAS that will allow for a peripheral installation, it is likely that the proposed missiles will also be of Turkish defense industry origin in the first place. Btw, If what is shown is a scale model of the ADA class, then this structural block containing the peripheral VLS shown is certainly too large in its internal volume to be just 2 cells, it could be the entire system for integrating a VLS as a package, for ships without VLS. I don't know, but I really like this approach and I hope it's not just a whatif study or just a proposal based on Malaysian requirements.
EDAS of Tübitak supposed to have peripheral versions that do not cut through the main deck (or what we call as strength deck) thus not causing a structural re-work (in terms of certification). Similarly KVLS or MICA-VL installation does not penetrate through this main deck but sits on it with a foundation.

Since EDAS with cold launch seems to gone, i can't think of MIDLAS without an individual launcher unit and making it available for peripheral or modular installations like Ex-LS, KVLS. Though at the moment they are working on Strike length version, i think a short individual unit representing self-defence version will be present along with Hisar-D Block II.

This rather gives me the question of redefining CIWS which would be yes. Up to this point, we mostly took CIWS as something to shoot incoming missiles with surface targets placed at secondary but with the recent developments, I guess it is about time we place more emphasis on the latter.

Kalkan Decoy launcher may be configured like this. Though project is still on system requirements identification stage but if it goes through it will be present aboard all major ships in place of fixed decoy launchers and will be capable of launching RF-emitting/reflecting and IR signature mimicking decoys.

Ada Class ships already have 2 STAMPs. That pedestal is for something else.

Nevertheless, we shouldn't have any MG mounts manned from this point on. It has no purpose with the recent threats.

When the Russians lost 1/3 of their Black Sea Fleet to maritime drones, they began to think seriously about protecting the rest. Among the proposed methods, the most effective, in the opinion of many, would be to place several dozen machine guns on the sides.
Here is an article about the “Russian defense” of ships

And this is an article about the death of the flagship of the Russian Black Sea Fleet - "Moscow".
Interesting comments

I don’t think it’s about the needs. From the most basic point, STAMP is probably used by a higher rank NCO while a deck pedestal mount could be manned by a lowly private. Don’t think navy expects a seaborn VBIED attack in a port in Malaysia.

I'm sorry, but wouldn't cirit not be a good option if Roketsan made a dual tube shoulder launcher ? (I was thinking 4 tubes, but might be a bit heavy for lifting :) )

Although the lenght is a problem imo, should be short around 1.2m.

Not particularly a TN project or related to submarine program but STM500 has begun to change (notice the hump before sail and slight changes on SDV)

Why especially shoulder launcher of CIRIT? Shoulder launched Karaok and OMTAS aren't enough?
AFAIK first ignition of MANPADS / shoulder launched ATGMis reduced in order not to burn the operator ( also it would cause a fire in the warship)from backfire 😕

SIDAS seems to became one of the affordable and effective solutions for port protection both as an early warning asset and they also have the capatity to deal with threats themselves. Yet NAVY UAVs are the first line of deffence for any asymmetric surface threats to ports. Never say never but What has happened to Russia at Black sea does not fit to our case I belive eventhough we have things to learn.

During war time at open sea for a competent Navy asymmetric surface threats are only good for target practice Unless they carry Çakır or kuzgun :devilish:

You have to think of them as just one part of whole, instead of by themselves. What Ukraine is doing is out of desperation and necessity, while we should learn from it, we should aspire for better. For example, I really like the concept USMC has for their new USVs, which is, they are fitted with kamikaze drones to overwhelm the air defence systems of enemy vessels and shore defences, and increase the chances of a missile hitting its target.

I thought cirit would be interesting due to it’s smaller diameter and weight. Having multiple launcher tubes with similar or slightly shorter range would enable the crew to man and use them quickly.
And I believe they are cheaper in production.
