Turkish borderline from Nusaybin to Cizre to Silopi has a good prospect for oil according to my source. He added we won't know sure until we drill those areas. Experts think those areas are extensions of the Syrian Qamıshlı oil fields.

Why haven't that area not been drilled already?

Look at the map, it's literally right on the border with YPG-held territory. It's dangerous to drill there unless TAF can drive the YPG like 200 km away from that area and secure it against any attacks.

It is not dangerous at all. YPG hasn't always been there and they wouldn't dare to attack in such a fashion. They would now that Turkey's response would crush them

Uh, dude, the US army is sitting there with them. I wish they wouldn't and this BS infuriates me but do you think Turkey would start lobbing missile salvos into that area if the YPG were to conduct a terror attack against an oil drilling operation and the US said "no way"? Did we forget that Erdogan kept bragging about an imminent anti-YPG operation back in September and then nothing happened because the US and Russia both said "no"?

YPG hasn't always been there but they are now. And they need to be removed before any oil drilling can take place without workers worrying that they are going to get hit by a rocket launched by some foul-smelling, bearded, child-stealing communist. Hell, forget YPG, some of that territory borders areas held by Assad.

I'm just saying, there's a reason to be cautious.

Any news on the 'new' gas discovery at Turkali-7?

Türkali-7 is a production well it is not a discovery well. In production wells flow tests are carried out to find out how much daily gas production can be achieved.
There is one new discovery well being drilled at the moment to the southwest of Sakarya field. We will probably hear more in late February or March. This also proves good progress has been made regarding the first phase of the project (the first 10 production wells).

All tests are completed in Türkali-1 and Türkali-2 wells.
Türkali-1 total gas flow is 1.77 million cubic meters per day.
Türkali-2 total gas flow is 2.05 million cubic meters per day.
A total of 3.80 million cubic meters of gas can be produced from 2 wells which means 1 billion and 387 million cubic meters of gas per year. If we assume we get similar results from the remaining wells, grand total of the first 10 wells will be somewhere close to 7 billion cubic meters per year.

Thanks for the update.

Just for reference for everyone on how much this corresponds to; today we have about 0.5bcm of gas production which corresponds to 0.9% of our imports, 7bcm would correspond to about 15% of our imports. This should have very significant effect on Turkeys current account deficit where energy imports have a very big share, so hopefully we can see a more stable economy in the future.

40 wells(phase-1 10 wells+phase-2 30 wells) with a similar amount of gas flow might yield a yearly production of at least 25 billion cubic meters which is roughly half the Turkish natural gas consumption. By the end of 2026, Türkiye might cover half of its needs from its own sources which is huge.

Türkiye also wants to buy 10 billion cubic meters of gas from Israel if Israel agrees to the Turkish pipeline. All of the Israeli gas will be bought by Türkiye in the first phase and in the second phase and additional 10 billion cubic meters of gas will be sent to the EU via Türkish pipelines.

A contract is signed for the construction of a pilot production facility for refining rare earth elements. The production trials of neodymium, lanthanum, cerium and praseodymium will start by the end of this year.
