Probably to avoid some taxes, will deliver parts and assemble in here, most are done by automated systems i presume.
The taxes + special fee per mobile phone has reached to a stage where opening an assembly line in Turkey has been more feasible with the low wages. The prices may finally drop a little further.

I think it’d be good job opportunity for some ppl with automation degrees / profession and such. Perhaps something to learn as well.

can’t give too much advantages or tax freedom to other companies, only the first ones to create competition.

Indeed, there are several other countries imposing high taxes for the electronics which is not made (assembled) in their country. It may also improve service quality of the brands, or even they can bring their own service instead of hiring other private services and bypass the import channels which is abused by several companies to sell the Chinese phones for lower prices than the market.

Hopefully Turkey utilises its location and production capability. Germany focuses on exports and its arguably the heart of the European (goods) economy. Its probably cheaper to produce goods in Turkey and deliver them to the European market then from Asian countries - when considering shipping/distribution costs.
