Chinese electric vehicle giant BYD is in talks with its local partner, Mega Motor Company (MMC), to introduce its next-generation ultra-fast charging technology in Pakistan, as the company looks to support the adoption of new energy vehicles in the country.

“We are currently discussing with our local partner, Mega Motor Company, how this technology could eventually be introduced to serve Pakistani customers,” said Liu Xueliang, Vice President of BYD Co., Ltd., and General Manager of BYD’s Asia Pacific Auto Sales Division, in an exclusive talk to BR Research.

Liu shared that BYD’s second-generation Blade Battery powers its Mega Flash Charging technology. “Its biggest advantage is that it significantly reduces charging time, making electric vehicles far more practical for everyday use while accelerating the adoption of new energy vehicles.”

October 07, 2026 (MLN): A Qatari liquefied natural gas (LNG) shipment bound for Pakistan has crossed the Strait of Hormuz after Pakistan negotiated safe passage with Iran, according to traders with knowledge of the matter cited by Bloomberg.

The cargo crossed the strait late on Tuesday and is now headed for Pakistan, ship-tracking data compiled by Bloomberg showed.

Pakistan has asked Iran to allow at least two Qatari LNG shipments to pass through Hormuz in October, the traders said.

The cargo's arrival will allow Pakistan to put off plans to buy LNG from the spot market, they added.

Pakistan imported nearly all of its LNG from Qatar last year. The country has been dealing with an energy shortfall since the war in Iran disrupted fuel flows through Hormuz.
