On the topic of Orthodoxy in Istanbul, I unironically think that letting the Hagia Sophia get turned back into a church would actually be useful in giving Turkish Orthodoxy a good boost and strengthening Turkey's soft power worldwide among Christians. Turkey wins literally nothing from making it a mosque, a museum is essentially a "let's not piss off anyone and try to play nice with everyone" option but play your cards right with making it a church and you could win big.

I think Nein talked about the Cordoba church/mosque thing but here's the thing - nobody gives a f**k about Cordoba among Muslims. Most don't even know it exists and that's because it's not important. Hagia Sophia, to Orthodox Christians, is probably the closest thing they have to Mecca and that's why they get so up upset about it. Which is why it's the ideal tool of cultural leverage. It means nothing to most Muslims, except as a trophy for the ego for some. There are more than enough mosques in Turkey and most of them go unused and will go unused as the atheism percentage rises among Turks and some of the more...pious migrants are likely going to be thrown out in the future. Who needs Hagia Sophia when you have the Blue Mosque next door?

I'm just saying, think about it from a political angle.
I don't know about Hagia Sophia, it's kind of a sensitive topic.

But, i think exactly same with you on the The Ecumenical Patriarchate.

Are you guys, high or what? Won't you be satisfied until Turkey turns into complete shit-hole?
What the hell are you talking?

I'm saying it's not time for useless political disputes but fight against the flames, like the small ordinary people.
Help them for fuck sake when AKP ignores them, what are you sitting there and talk like a fucking snowflake around, it's time to roll up the sleeves and help the people. Send vehicles from your municipalities, help the people with the water... show that you are backing them.

And don't you ever accuse me with shit like that, my fathers village is 30 min from Marmaris. Talking is cheap but my relatives in Mugla are there and helping what are you doing?

They are not saying government is starting these fires in order to build hotels.

What they say is forest areas should be preserved as it is and shouldn't be opened for construction.

If everyone could love this country as those "Turkish leftists"

What i‘m saying is that they ignore those facts, not mentioned it at all but use those tragic events to push a political agenda.

When AKPians dare to build hotels then you can talk but wtf are they pulling out of their minds now? It‘s not time for such disputes.

Is it wrong to state this fact? It's always something, don't say that now, don't say this now.

What's done is done, there nothing more than what can be done. It's about being prepared against fires, if you are not ready, well "geçmiş olsun"

Also, i'm completely against non-trained people to intervene into the fires, be it civilians, soldiers and police. People die from carbon-manoxide poisining instead of fire. It's such a shitty thing that you can't be aware of the poisoning until it's to late. I say let it burn, don't risk our people.

I say this HELL NO

Our ancestors sacrificed soldiers to take Istanbul and we took hagia sophia as a war trophy.

Cordoba mosque is not famous??

You do realise Muslims got thrown out as they tried to pray there.

The Turks can turn the Hagia Sophia back into a mosque while the Arabs have either forgotten cordoba accepted its fate or too busy being cucks.

I think its the latter. Arabs are the Muslim worlds biggest cucks so dont be surprised as they left cordoba to its fate.

Now Al Aqsa is going through the same fate as the Jews have taken over.

Now Makkah and Madinah are next on the chopping board dont be surprised if the Arabs surrender these holy cities.

Because they have already destroyed its traditional character wirh ugly ass skyscrapers.

I dont even want to do umrah or even hajj as the Saudis will be taking my money. I dont even want to visit Al Aqsa as the Jews will be taking your money and laughing at your face.

We dominated these places for centuries it makes me sad how we lost it all over time.

We deserve the money we deserve to benefit from it.

Depressing!!!

If the Arabs are enjoying all that oil money while Turkey gets crashed by waves of refugees.

It means there is something wrong. This is not justice.

Now we know what Erdogan promised Biden, most likely in turn Biden won't implement personal sanctions on him, and why the AKP is playing the three monkeys.

Pathetic. Elections NOW!

👇

Propaganda Machine, the day will come these people will hide in holes from the wrath of the people.
LMAO.

Biden and the Democrats basically screeched all through the electoral year about what a horrible racist Trump was, now we have Kamala Harris and Marco Rubio actively telling migrants to GTFO and Biden essentially bribing corrupt autocrats from other countries to take refugees.

Hypocrites, the lot of them.

They forget migrants from Africa, South America and the Middle East are more conservative.

So the migrants themselves are not onboard with lbgt, feminism and other forms of progressivism.

Muslim community world wide including Australia have shot themselves in the foot by allying with leftists and liberals even knowing their values all contradict each other.

Muslims are too busy doing cringey activism like BLM and supporting lbgt.

I have ranted enough already from this piece of crap of a planet. 90s and 2000s was the golden years for me especially for Australia im gonna miss those times.

You completely misunderstood what I said. TURKEY will be benefiting from the money and influence it can get out of Orthodox Christians by leveraging Hagia Sophia as a church again and boosting Turkey's own forms of Orthodoxy. Not Greece or Russia or whatever. Just like the Ottomans did with Islam. You think they adopted it because they were pious? LOL.

You are attaching Islamic religious identity to Turkish identity, which is the wrong approach. Islam doesn't have to have anything to do with Turkishness and if Turkey turns Christian tomorrow, it will be Turkey's own, unique form of Christianity which will still pursue Turkish interests (and not Middle-Eastern ones or European ones) above all else.

And yeah, Cordoba is not that famous, especially compared to Hagia Sophia. People making displays of attention by trying to pray or whatever is no different to Christians secretly making the sign of the cross when visiting the Hagia Sophia and thinking it's some big sign of rebellion. Both are stupid stunts.

And finally, whatever is happening at Al-Aqsa or Cordoba is irrelevant. What is relevant is what happens with Turkey and how it can benefit Turkey.

No it's not, but i don't know if it's useful when they are stating obvious facts, while those people have to fill up tanks with buckets and fight fires with showels on their own. They are stating facts like that the Goverment doesn't care much... which is right, that there is no equipment... which is also right, then intervene and fill the gap, emergency meeting, work on a solution, demand for Military intervention.

I seriously don't get it, why talking around do the first step, it's useless to go infront the cameras and talk, AKP says we are fighting, Opposition say no they are not, and how did this helped to solve the problem?

"Let it burn" easy talk again when your life and property is not affected by the fires. People are desperate and they risk their health to do something, they know that it's dangerous.

What do you expect opposition to do? Of course they are going to state any wrong doings of the Government. Of course they are going to point out wrongs of government. Oppositions criticize governments in all over the world. What you are saying is complete nonsense.

The only tool for opposition is the firefighters of the municapalities and they are doing their share. So, what are you talking about exactly?

And it's not about me or you. I say, people shouldn't risk their lives if they don't know about fighting fires and you are saying "If it was your home that was burning, you would fight the fires?" Are you implying that i'm two faced? And no, i wouldn't. Belongings are not important than my or my family's life.

That you still ask me what i expect even though i already mentioned it 2/3 times...
Words are not changing anything but deeds. You can keep supporting/defending this mouth policy, i'm feed up.

The Goverment doesn't give a fuck about those statements and the fire, since they control the media they will twist it so that the opposition becomes the asshole of the story even though they are right, period.

Opposition has to present a solution to the public that's what i EXPECT!

End of the AKP:
- Erdogan visits regions affected by disasters, ends up givinf away tea bags from roof of the bus
- Erdogan enormous convoy is privileged and blocks ambulances and firefighters in regions affected by disasters
- Erdogan offers credit to the people lost their assets, products at farms or cattles, saying %40 of their losses will be returned by a credit which the victims is going to pay it in long term low interest
-AKP major of a town affected by fires, smirks while talking to the news maker and says 'government will build their houses in return of a credit which they will pay in 20 years', and adds 'the other people is going to wish their homes had been burnt as well'
- Forest ministry talks trash all the time, clashing with the manager of THK assigned by Erdogan.
- Forest ministry says ' fires are business of local authorities, not a concern of the ministry', while forests are constitiuinally being the responsibility of the ministry and managed by them in all means, including rights to privatize and permit for construction.
- Forest ministry's fleet ignores fires in certain cities governed by rival parties. Later does the accusatio s above.
- Armed forces are commanded not to intervene with the disaster at all means, some commanders take initiatives on their own and helps the villagers out by sea or land or air.
- State rejects offer of help from certain countries because their planes to be deployed are exactly same brand and configuration as operated by THK and left out of tender by setting 5000,while it is 4900. Morover his alibi is even baseless, saying small airplanes creates unnecessary traffic.
- Despite of rejecting, the current fleet including aids is inable to relieve the disaster, the news about fire is suppressed on mainstream media and bans have started across social media. TRT, state television reporters have caught filming opposite direction of the ongoing fire as 'the fire is under control and has been put off' and later beaten out and pushed away by public.
- Kizilay is not providing to most provinces, local auhtorities provide tents and food to the victims in certain cities.

Rotten from inside out, this is what you get from such a government.

Kind of fitting that Erdogan is such a fan of Abdulhamid II and commissioned a show whitewashing the guy. They are much alike in many ways, authoritarian, paranoid and crippling the country for their own personal profit.

There is a difference between the two Abdulhamid II presided over a dying empire while Erdogan is running it into the ground from his own comfort.

Not to say Abdulhamid II was some perfect man I find him overrated but still running a state that is dying he was the product of his time.

Erdogan has not gone through any crisises that happened in the 1800s and the 1900s.

The 2016 attempted coup does not even come close to the ones in 1909 and 1913.

Erdogan has a comfortable life compared to the past which was rife of crisis and instability.

This all points to the length of rule of when a person rules far too longer they become restless and out of touch. Erdogan refuses to accept his mistakes while at the same time he got away with it because this is politics you will always have people looking the other way.

Fracturing state means authoratarian rule. When it comes to authoratarian rule the Turks are not a stranger to it.

Erdogan has become like Arsene Wenger. He needs to go and retire. Kilictaroglu and Bahceli also need to go.

There needs to be an age cap along with term limits from now on. You can compare Erdogan from various times you look at today he looks stressed and slow. He has no vigour and hunger.

Government can only tolerate a certain degree of incompetence and corruption.

Even in a disaster they are rubbing their hands thinking of how to rip of even more money from the population.

Gameover for AKP. Better late than never.
