Nothing says a purely legal case from an independent judiciary like blocking the internet, banning protests, bringing police from other provinces from days before, threatening journalists who report the case, and trying desperately to hammer home the point that this is somehow a terrorism and criminal organization case (to give you excuse to appoint a trustee) by raiding the house of a civilian with hundreds of police in gear for someone for whom you have zero evidence of armed resistance or escape.

He knows that there will be rising public unrest if he ever arrested Imamoglu without reason and yet he did so anyways and this may imply that Erdogan has some serious evidence regarding Imamoglu along with some of his cronies that even Imamoglu himself cant escape from
This also explains why Imamoglu initiated this early presidential candidate fiasco, 4 years before the election even begins. He probably got a tip that some1 from his circle betrayed him and so he turned the story into a public case in order to pressure Erdogan to leave him alone

As I said before, I always found it weird that Imamoglu started this crazy presidential candidate stuff 4 years before the election, it just doesnt make sense and as I believe that nothing in this world is purely coincidence, the only thing that happened before Imamoglu's crazy stunt is the diploma issue and that is why I believe that Imamoglu's diploma is fake
It is highly likely that some circles, within the CHP, that dont like Imamoglu ratted him out to the AKP; thus, giving the AKP leverage against Imamoglu. Imamoglu, being afraid of getting caught, probably started this presidential candidate drama in order to shift the case of corruption against him into one of public opinion and oppression. In other words, Imamoglu most likely is using "democracy" as a shield to escape/prevent Erdogan from arresting him using the info he got from anti-Imamoglu circles within the CHP
What makes me believe this theory is that Erdogan himself stated that they arrested Imamoglu based on info obtained from within the CHP and Imamoglu's wife reportedly stated that Ekrem Imamoglu said to her that the police is gonna come for him before even beginning his CHP's presidential candidate drama and that she should ask the people to go to the streets to resist the police's decision and this is clearly proven by how she takes videos in front of Ataturk portrait and then in another video with a headscarf etc..... she is trying to create public unrest to threaten Erdogan and strengthen Ekrem's cause
Nothing short of a third rate political drama. The main idea is to create public unrest and force the police to lay their hands on protestors so that the opposition can have legitimacy when they cry "oppression" but it seems that Erdogan is still kepping calm for now. However, the longer it takes for Erdo to react, the worse it will be for the CHP as the anger will slowly subside and this is what is beginning to happen rn

Yes everything is the same as everything else.
In EU, U.S. Korea and Japan, there are hundreds of similar cases of opposition leaders thrown in jail while the government limits bandwidth to social media websites (even in fucking Serbia this wasn't done) and journalists close to the ruling party (same flagbearers of the operations conducted by the stooges of foreign intelligence services o hollow out the armed forces from 'undesirable' independent patriotic elements) threaten opposition figures and journalists citing from content of various lawsuits to which somehow they have access.
One cannot also compare and contrast various levels of corruption and politicization of judiciary in different countries as every country is the same. It's not like we've been descending through the ranks in all conceivable indices of rule of law to the level of sub-Saharan African countries.
