Hello, I have a question, can a military radar at a distance of more than 1000 km detect the presence of a large missile under the fuselage of a fighter?

Also, can radar detect the modification of a fighter, or can it be detected by other means at a distance?

A new upgraded 1,500 km range Super Swordfish Long Range Tracking Radar or Very Long Range Tracking Radar (VLRTR) was developed since 2011 by the Electronics and Radar Development Establishment (LRDE) in view of multiple independently targetable reentry vehicle (MIRV) development taking place in China and Pakistan.[7][8][9][10][11] Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) is already using an L band AESA radar called Multi Object Tracking Radar (MOTR) which is based on the same technology with fixed horizontal and vertical angle rotating at 360°. It is capable of tracking 0.25 m² object at 1,000 km and 0.09 m² at 800 km of Low Earth Orbit (LEO).

In short, the answer is yes.

Interesting questions AngelWer. With the more modern AESA S Band 3D Long Range Discrimination Radars in service today, I would say "possibly" but probably would only be able to discriminate the large missile (Hypersonic) once in flight. The modification of a fighter however might only be able to be discerned visually or if it had some major modifications done to it like more powerful engine changes, it could be detected by these new radars at a distance by it's speed advantages.

I don't know about very long radar but current military radar, some have SAR (Synthetic Aperture Radar) ability and able to generate images.
For example F-16 SABR radar able to do ground mapping and even object/target detection and identification.

Maybe if the radar is good enough and at sufficient distance the resulting SAR image produced will be enough to scrutinize the target plane, like what stuff is being carried by the target. Etc.
Maybe it can be improved further by also incorporating AI.

Long range means less resolution.
Long range radars are not used today for a reason.

That can technically work but radar resolution with an HF frequency radar will be so low that unless its an ICBM I doubt it can differentiate the target.
Besides ionosphere is unstable.

e.g: You can start a WWIII nuclear war when a solar storm modify ionosphere and the enemy wont see you.

Yes, with modern VHF AESA you can, best VHF comes from Russia, we have the Nebo-SVU and Nebo-M VHF radar, they are both AESA operated in VHF band. But that also depends on a lot of factors.
