Actually I found a little bit more about Solar in Turkey.

Part of the 1GigaWatt GES-1 Tender was local PV production and the winner Kalyon Group has established a Factory in Ankara that has Capacity of 500MW per Year.
Its pretty impressive tbh. They partnered with the Chines after Koreans left. Personnel is actually trained in China.

With 100,000 square meters of indoor space, Kalyon Solar Technologies Factory adds value to the life and power to the economy as one of the most significant hi-tech industrial premises of our country. This matchless factory was established with the target to produce fully domestic solar panels and it employs 1,400 people. It also stands out as the world’s first and only plant that brings all four stages of solar panel production - the first application in Turkey - under a single roof.

3.5 million solar panels to be produced in this factory that has the capacity to produce 500 MW solar panels will be used in Karapınar Solar Power Plant. After that, the factory will provide domestic solutions to other power plant projects in Turkey while it will also focus on exports with new technologies it will develop.

Karapınar Solar Power Plant which is targeted to be completed within 2.5 years will raise Turkey’s solar power capacity from about 7,000 MW to 8,000 MW. When completed, the factory and the plant will ensure a currency substitution of 345 million dollars per annum.

Update on the Kalyon Solar Factory which started production August 19th 2020.

> It has been reported that Kalyon Solar Technologies Factory, which was commissioned on August 19, 2020, produced 1 million solar panels in a year.

> Kalyon Holding Chairman Kalyoncu said that 996 thousand of the 1 million panels produced were used in the first Kalyon Karapınar Solar Power Plant.

> The power plant, which will have an installed capacity of 1,000 MW when completed, has already reached 284.7 MW power.

In his statement, Cemal Kalyoncu emphasized that the production and sales of M10 wafers started at the factory, adding that the number of employees will reach 2,100 from 1,400 with the increase in the annual production capacity of the factory, which will increase its annual production capacity from 500 MW to 1,000 MW.

In 2011, CHP leader clearly stated he dont want Nuclear technology in his country
Turkey is under extreme political pressure from the EU; led by France and Greece to immediately halt the program
EU in 2019, in respond to greece's concern, did put a list of hurtful sanctions against Turkey if it did complete its nuclear program; on the pretext that the technology was obtained from "russia". When they dont know what excuse to make...... loool

It is also fun to note that 70% of France's need of energy comes fron Nuclear power yet they dont want Turkey to have such technology.....lol

Turkey is under extreme political pressure from the EU; led by France and Greece to immediately halt the program

I doubt they will pause this project, first plant will complete in 2023, make no sense to halt this project. Nuclear plants are become safer than before.

Especially with thorium nuclear reactors which Turkey is rich in
Thorium is way safer than traditional Uranium

If we could do it we could stop after the first plant or the second in having Uranium reactors. Thorium reactors would also be suitable for exports and mobile deployment.

We don't have an energy deficit. In fact, we are producing more than our consumption.

There's no commercialy successful Thorium reactor running anywhere in the world. Good luck to them but I wouldn't bet on their success. China and other countries have been pumping billions into their development for years.

Turkey exceeds 10 GW in wind​

Turkey reached 10 GW installed power in the wind energy project with the highest altitude

According to the statement made by the Turkish Wind Energy Association (TÜREB) , the Turkish wind energy industry achieved this important milestone with the acceptance of the Bağlama WPP project.

Bağlama WPP project, an investment of FIBA Group company Fina Energy, is located in the Gevaş district of Van. The first phase of the project, which was commissioned in 2020, has an installed power of 53.2 MW.

In addition to this, the project also has the title of being the wind power plant at the highest altitude of Turkey with 2,900 meters and at the same time at the easternmost point.

Turkey Electricity Transmission Inc. According to data from Turkey's wind energy capacity at the end of 2020 8832.4 MW , while the end of last month to 9929.3 MW was reached.

A prototype doesn't mean we will start producing power immediately. There is a huge work between developing a prototype and building an actual powerplant.
We have prototype nuclear reactors in Turkiye right here right now. We are producing our own medical fissile materials and use them for scientific research.A prototype in 2025 means a powerplant after 2030 if nothing goes wrong with that prototype.

Only %26 of Turkey's electricity is produced by natural gas and we are producing more than our consumption you can look at the values. We did well with renewables, geothermal, and hydropower. Of course, ideally, we want zero production from imported natural gas and imported coal but it is not easy. Akkuyu Nuclear power plant and Blacksea gas will lower that percentage even more.

We need to phase out the coal. Nuclear power is fine but I neither trust the Russians and neither do I trust the Turkish authorities.

The EU is going to start taxing CO2 heavy products in the near future. We export a shit load of steal etc to the EU and need to decarbonize the production or live with not being competitive anymore. And that's just the start. The EU is still by far our largest trading partner.
