The Danish Armed Forces have commissioned Rheinmetall to supply the MASS decoy system. A contract to this effect was recently signed in Copenhagen. In total, Rheinmetall will supply a number of Multi Ammunition Softkill Systems (MASS): for both the ABSALON-class frigates, the IVER-HUITFELDT-class frigates and the Royal Danish Navy’s Weapons School. In addition, the Danish Armed Forces have ordered a quantity of Omnitrap-ER decoys. Deliveries are scheduled to commence in the fourth quarter of 2027. The contract value, which was booked in the second quarter of 2026, amounts to a two-digit million figure in
euros In addition, a supply contract with a term of up to 21 years has been signed to enable the Danish Navy to replenish its MASS stock.
For MASS, this order means that the battle proven decoy system has now become the standard within the Scandinavian navies. In total, MASS is currently in use by 18 nations, with over 400 decoy launchers in operation worldwide.
“The past few months have demonstrated the outstanding role played by the Danish Navy in NATO’s maritime defence in the Baltic Sea, the North Sea and also in the Arctic,” said Hauke H. Bindzus, CEO of Rheinmetall’s Business Unit Protection Systems. “Against this backdrop, we are particularly grateful that we have now also been able to convince the Danish Navy of the superiority of our MASS system as a soft-kill protection system for its frigates. With this order from Denmark, every Scandinavian navy now has the Rheinmetall MASS launcher in service. Denmark becomes the 18th country to use this technology.”
MASS protects ships and boats from a wide range of threats, such as attacks by anti-ship missiles or laser-guided weapons – in blue water environment as well as in shallow water missions or on rivers. It offers multispectral decoys using a single system. To this end, it covers all relevant wavelength ranges, including radar, ultraviolet, electro-optical sensors, lasers and infrared.
Thanks to its modular design, MASS can be installed on vessels of any size – from offshore patrol vessels to frigates. It can be integrated into existing command and weapon control systems with minimal effort or operated as a stand-alone system.

Boeing and Rheinmetall accelerate Germany’s path to Collaborative Combat Aircraft capabilities – Mature platform available for capability development

Leading air forces worldwide are now initiating the practical introduction of Collaborative Combat Aircraft (CCA), also called strike-fighter drone in air-to-ground operations. They are thus moving from the concept phase to the concrete creation of this new military capability. The German armed forces also have corresponding plans.
With the MQ-28 Ghost Bat, a mature platform is already available today that enables this rapid capability build-up. Previous flight tests show that the MQ-28 can meet the German requirements with regard to both air-to-ground and air-to-air operations.
The high maturity level of the MQ-28 enables Germany to immediately build sovereign capabilities – including the integration of German sensors, weapons and mission software. Boeing is continuously investing in the further development of the MQ-28, including its air-to-ground capabilities. To ensure the accelerated build-up of CCA capabilities in Germany, Rheinmetall is contributing as system integrator.
Crucial is the high level of maturity that the MQ-28 Ghost Bat already has today: to date, the MQ-28 Ghost Bat is the first and only strike-fighter drone to have already participated in multinational exercises (for example in the US military maneuver Exercise Valiant Shield). Glen Ferguson, Boeing Defense Australia, Global Director of the MQ-28 program: “While many CCA programs worldwide are still in the concept, definition or early test phase, the MQ-28A Ghost Bat has already gone through these essential development steps."
At the same time, the MQ-28 Ghost Bat offers the German Air Force a realistic development and test environment to further develop procedures and tactics for cooperation between manned and unmanned aircraft. Glen Ferguson emphasizes: “If the goal is to achieve such a capability by 2029, this work must begin today with the development of tactics, training, definition of force structure and the integration of sovereign technologies."
Together with Rheinmetall, Rohde & Schwarz, Diehl Defence and HENSOLDT, Boeing is currently building an industrial ecosystem that will enable Germany in the long term to develop and integrate the required capabilities within its own country.
Rheinmetall is taking the first step by establishing an independent system integration for the MQ-28 in Germany. Mike Schmidt, CEO of the Business Unit Air, Uncrewed and Space: “Germany does not have to choose between speed and independence. We offer a way to achieve both at the same time. The MQ-28 enables us to bypass the lengthy development phase of a new aircraft and go directly to the decisive task: making the capabilities of unmanned combat air systems available to the German Air Force."
Establishing an independent system integration is at the same time an investment in the German defense industry. Software development, mission integration and intellectual property remain within the German industrial ecosystem.
This allows national capabilities to be developed, tested and integrated immediately on the MQ-28. Future CCA platforms will then benefit from these experiences. With the help of a digital twin, the MQ-28 is continuously being further developed, also supported by extensive flight test data and insights from the test program with the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF).
Glen Ferguson: “The MQ-28 Ghost Bat has been designed from the outset as an extremely adaptable platform. Experiences gathered in operational use to date show that the MQ-28’s architecture can be quickly adapted to new mission requirements, including air-to-ground capabilities. This is not about a retrofit, but about using a modular design that is conceived from the ground up for continuous adaptations."

Rheinmetall will supply further mobile rescue stations to the Bundeswehr. As an extension of a previous order, the armed forces are set to receive a total of 149 additional protected and unprotected systems, with a gross value of over €500 million. This call-off under a framework contract awarded at the end of 2024 is the largest order to date that the contractor, Rheinmetall Project Solutions GmbH, has ever received. Production of the rescue stations is due to begin in the first quarter of 2027.
With the order booked in July 2026, the total number of rescue stations rises to 165 systems, with a gross value of over € 600 million. In December 2024, the Federal Office of Bundeswehr Equipment, Information Technology and In-Service Support (BAAINBw) had commissioned Rheinmetall to supply up to 137 rescue stations to the Bundeswehr. At that time, ten ballistically protected and six unprotected systems were ordered.
Call-offs for further armoured and unarmoured systems are included as an option in the contract. Training for the relevant personnel will also be provided.
The rescue stations are part of the Modular Medical Facilities system. Within the Bundeswehr’s medical service, these highly mobile rescue stations ensure that the troops receive initial emergency medical care. If required, four soldiers can set up and dismantle the systems within a very short time. This incorporates a lesson learnt from the war in the Ukraine, namely that highly mobile systems are necessary for medical support.
Each rescue station comprises two containers that can be operated together or separately. Each container is fitted with a generator and air conditioning, and can operate independently for several days. Should one generator fail, the entire system can continue to operate using the generator from a single container.
The system features a fully equipped emergency treatment station, as well as four additional treatment stations. All the medical equipment is mounted on Airliner rails and can be configured according to the user’s requirements.
The system can be transported using different carrier vehicles used by the Bundeswehr. It can be set up at a longitudinal and transverse inclination. A custom lifting system was developed for this purpose, as no off-the-shelf system could meet the specified requirements.
The Bundeswehr is procuring both protected and unprotected versions of the system. This involves the refurbishment of an existing system. However, the new rescue station replaces a complex tent structure with a highly modular 3:1 container manufactured by Rheinmetall Mobile Systeme GmbH. The new system can be transported and set up in more challenging terrain.

American Rheinmetall has been awarded a contract from Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace to produce machined components for the MCT‑30 medium caliber turret. These components will support the United States Marine Corps’ Amphibious Combat Vehicle infantry fighting vehicle variant, known as the ACV‑30.
Under the award, valued at approximately $710,000, American Rheinmetall’s Lapeer and Lansing, Michigan facilities will manufacture machined components for MCT‑30 turrets, with deliveries scheduled throughout 2026 and 2027. American Rheinmetall will perform the work as a subcontractor to Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace.
This marks the first contract award from Kongsberg to American Rheinmetall’s Michigan operations and signifies the continued growth and diversification of the company’s U.S. customer base. The award also builds on years of successful collaboration between Kongsberg and American Rheinmetall’s Maine facility in support of the CROWS program.
“The opportunity to support Kongsberg on the ACV‑30 program reflects our expanding partnership and strengthens American Rheinmetall’s role in delivering high‑quality components for critical U.S. military platforms,” said Tom McDonnell, Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing, American Rheinmetall. “We’re proud that our Michigan facilities will contribute to the Marine Corps’ modernization priorities as it evolves into a more mobile and capable force.”
By supporting production of the MCT‑30 turret for the ACV‑30, this effort contributes directly to the Marine Corps’ operational readiness and mission flexibility. The award also reinforces American Rheinmetall’s growing position within the Tier 1 defense industry landscape as the company continues broadening both capability and customer reach.

American Rheinmetall, Auburn Hills, MI, has successfully delivered the first of eight Lynx XM30 combat vehicle prototypes to the U.S. Army, marking a pivotal step in the competitive program to replace the legacy M2 Bradley Fighting Vehicle. Following its delivery, the initial prototype immediately enters government-led developmental and performance testing. This critical evaluation is a key component of the program's broader Phase 3/4 Engineering and Manufacturing Development (EMD) contract valued at approximately $764 million, which encompasses digital design, physical prototyping, and full-system validation.
“Delivering our first prototype to the Army is an important step as the XM30 Combat Vehicle program enters a more visible phase,” said Matt Warnick, CEO of American Rheinmetall. “Team Lynx now has the opportunity to show the Army that we can deliver on the promise of a modern replacement for the Bradley.”
Later this year, American Rheinmetall will deliver the remaining seven prototypes, which will be used for operational unit training. This rollout runs parallel to the technical evaluations as part of the Army’s Transformation in Contact (TiC) 2.0 initiative, a modernization effort aimed at rapidly prototyping, testing, and fielding cutting-edge technology directly to deployed and training units. Once the vehicles clear initial military safety checks, Soldiers will immediately launch into active field maneuvers, an intensive training phase that culminates in large-scale combat simulations.
“Executing a parallel evaluation timeline requires a level of industrial agility that Team Lynx was built for,” Warnick noted. “We are proving that the U.S. Defense Industrial Base can move at the speed of operational relevance, stripping years off traditional development timelines to get the right capability to the Warfighter.”
The advanced prototype deliveries rely on a tightly orchestrated, multi-state production pipeline that underscores the agility and resilience of the U.S. Defense Industrial Base. Work begins with precision turret fabrication in Plymouth, Michigan, before sub-systems transition to Slidell, Louisiana, for final hull and chassis integration. Completed vehicles then enter comprehensive automotive shakeout trials to guarantee mechanical readiness, before returning to Louisiana for final paint and detailing. Integrating these separate facilities into a singularpipeline ensures strict quality control, with the process culminating in a joint inspection
alongside the Defense Contract Management Agency (DCMA) prior to official government acceptance.
The Lynx XM30 is engineered to excel in complex operating environments that increasingly feature drones, precision weapons, and electronic warfare. In support of rapid technology integration over its service life, the platform incorporates a modular design and an adaptive open architecture. Most notably, the vehicle introduces a first-ever hybrid-electric powertrain to optimize power generation and battlefield mobility. As a digitally integrated fighting system with secure, real-time connectivity, the Lynx XM30 embeds the advanced intelligence required to ensure the crew and infantry squad maintain absolute battlefield survivability.
As the prime contractor, American Rheinmetall leads Team Lynx, an elite industrial coalition that combines the specialized capabilities of Textron Systems, Raytheon, L3Harris Technologies, Allison Transmission, and Anduril Industries, supported by a rapidly expanding network of domestic suppliers.
