On 7 October 2020, a step down ceremony was held by the Kong Thap Bok Thai (Royal Thai Army) for the UH-1H Huey helicopter. The ceremony was attended by three UH-1Hs including serial 5777 (construction number 10707, ex US Army 68-15777).

The UH-1H had been operational with the army since 1968 and the Scramble Magazine database lists at least 220 different airframes, although another 50+ Hueys are still unaccounted for.

Being such a versatile helicopter, its role within the army has been taken over by a multitude of other helicopter types, including UH-72A, Mi-17V-5, H145, AW139/149, UH-60L and Bell 212.

The UH-1H is still active with the Thai military including the Air Force and off course many modern derivative Bell types can be found in Thailand. Many UH-1Hs can be found on display at various locations in the Kingdom of Thailand.

Hey, I'll take one if they're giving them away. I can land it in the middle of Taksim, set up a "seyyar satici booth" selling whatever's hot, and when the Zabita comes just take off and disappear into the sunset. :)
