This deployment starkly contrasts the submarine history of the last two decades, which has seen the arm hit by dwindling strength, accidents and write-offs.
“It is indeed an important milestone for us. Since I joined the Navy, I have not seen such a high simultaneous deployment. This was basically because we did not have that many submarines in operations, and the fleet strength was hit by several undergoing refits or repairs,” a source, who has completed over 25 years of service, told ThePrint.

The navy team is now heading to spain now to inspect AIP tech after completing the german one. Curious as to what the germans will be offering.
Why is the Indian navy so insistent about AIP instead of going with fully LiB Scorpène Evolved from France? Japan is also moving towards fully LiB submarines instead of AIP.
Is the Indian Navy requirements much different from Indonesia and France?

These are all pricey things to do, so synergy potentials likely play some part in decision making.

The performance for scorpene evolved should be good from what France has shown and India already has built 6 scorpenes so there is synergy there. Maybe your 6 scorpene can also be upgraded to scorpene evolved?
All the scorpene would get a DRDO AIP so that option is practically dead.There are talks of the upcoming three scorpene might be of the so called " super kalvari" but there is no confirmation officially.Navy always wanted P75i to be a step above scorpene by being 3000 ton submarines with VLS. The VLS requirement has now been dropped and now we have the germans with a custom sub which most likely will have elements from the U212cd subs and s80 plus which itself has a lot of similarity with the scorpene class.
