And same applies to some countries who have been neglecting Rohingya issue as long as it hasn't reached them, and now overly concerned about the situation in Myanmar.

.280 british, EM-2 etc

Honestly the brits and belgians should have made that ecosystem and dbled down on it.

They got screwed over by the Americans.

Im happy the Turkish armed forces stuck with 7.62mm nato rather than go with 5.56mm nato.

Americans have screwed over so many with their bullshit nato standardisation which they did not follow themselves.

Em2 had potential to be one of the best assault rifles only to get cut down in its prime.

Kind of, but brits signed up for NATO and all it entailed. It was their choice to follow common logistics of the largest party in NATO....NATO stipulated this quite early on.

I just think Brits could have made a firmer argument for NATO to adopt .280 as well...in a way they were brow beaten easily after ww2 in many ways.

Anyway as you say, countries also had option to simply stick with .308 like Turkey did.

US experiments more (esp for spec-ops + specialists), thats true, but its been more a thing after cold war ended. Spec-ops always generally had whatever they wanted too anyway.

During cold war, it was 308 and 223 (when the ammo/soldier argument became in vogue for nam etc) for the main NATO service rifle standard.
