Apparently the military is shooting protestors in Myanmar.
I dont wish anyone evil yet some fact must be spoken, the same masses including their oh so peaceful monks were cheering the military when muslims were getting massacred, the women and children raped, the men executed and tortured, these people have cheered unspeakable attrocities done to a minority.

Here is a little quote as a reminder:
"First they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out—because I was not a socialist. Then they came for the trade unionists, and I did not speak out— because I was not a trade unionist. Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—because I was not a Jew. Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me." Words said by Martin Niemoller.

In my opinion, until there is actual embargoe sanctioned by US or United Nation, Indonesia shoud doing hard work to lobby military Junta in Myanmar to work as their economy stuff supplier like food, motorcycle chemical, electronic, Cars, textile, weaponry and so on including banking sector and telecommunication. It was God sent opportunity, why we must tangle with morality in the first place when our economy is in tatter and need more injection.

I agree, there is no reason for Indonesia to exclusively go alone on some sanctions.

Regular people on ground, its best left to them to watch, understand and criticize Burmese junta.

If there is intense genuine popular pressure to do something stronger, then Indonesian govt can look at it then.

A govt as default must tread carefully and be nuanced about these things unless there is large consolidation with several other govts on such matter.

Realpolitic is using moral ground as tools, and hard power as bargaining chips. Country Leadership should only looking for benefit and profit to the betterment of her own people.

There is indication Indonesia as a Nation and society going to such direction specially with regard as our special identity as the largest Muslim democracy with moderator stance in the world one with the most mature system as State among Muslim Nation in place thus Made some of Government body to put emphasize of this one to directing our foreign policy, starting from Palestina issue, then Rohingya issue, democracy in Myanmar and then our meddle in Afghanistan Taliban issue and so on. Many SJW orgz voicing this one and slow but sure starting to reshape our society inner thinking.

There is long gone the time when strong hand and pragmatical approach of our foreign policy in the style of Old and New Order era.

Well , while i could understand this " trending " sentiment to an extent . All i could have to say to these people who are advocating this acts that they should have take a hard look at the mirror and reflect on what and how many past baggages we had as a nation do . Voice your concerns over something and shares our experiences but do not ever patronizing nor lecturing other if we haven't even clear our backyard first .

That is all i could say ...

With the death toll rising in Myanmar, world leaders have repeated their calls for the military junta to step down. US officials have announced new sanctions. The European Union is poised to impose sanctions against the military leaders in Myanmar, according to a joint statement released after EU foreign ministers met in Brussels on Monday. The statement came as protesters in Myanmar continued to take to the streets despite a deadly crackdown by military and police forces. At least three protesters have died since Friday, and the military has reported that one policeman had also lost his life.

Excellent points indeed (y) 🇮🇩 should press whoever running the show there to repatriate their refugee. Might as well helping them to setup re-education camp (or whatever) to ensure there will be no more refugee pouring in to neighbouring states. Moreover, looking from the bigger picture, the holier than thou attitude of western countries toward Myanmar only push them further into 🇨🇳 sphere of influence further, as if the whole Malayan peninsula isn't leaning toward 🇨🇳 already.

Let's be frank here. Do we really want to receive more refugee landing on our shore, particularly during this time of the great plague❓For all-purpose and intent those refugees could potentially bring anything from contagious disease to terrorist. Moreover, do we really want to see 🇨🇳 military base at 🇲🇲 ❓ Which is what going to happen if the western world push them further.

Beside the way I see it, whoever going to win their snap election, the military junta can always press the election winner to play ball. Thus, it's a Win-Win solution for everyone. The western world will see Free Market* & Democracy** at work in 🇲🇲, the military junta (or whatever) remain in power behind the scene (as they always did), and the 🇲🇲 ordinary folks get to vote as they wish, while ASEAN states doesn't get bothered by influx of refugee.

* : Term & Condition Apply
** : Fair & Free Election isn't included and sold separately

Dozens of protesters have died so far (officially that we know about) from police/military clampdown so far....maybe up to 100 even since in just one day there was reports of more than 30 dead.

Some cops have taken refuge in India recently @Indos et al:

Something that I see as not appropriate is that despite what is happening in Myanmar, CNN International keep talking about their domestic politics, while AJ and DW are covering Myanmar protester as their top news

CNN is one of the worst media groups out there. American media in general has really gotten bad lately. They are full of themselves and their petty agenda stuff. Bro, you got to live here for some time to know what liberal coastal elites are like....they are what drive the media groups here.

For international news, definitely europeans etc are far better in balanced and priority coverage.

I am pretty much prefer Asia Pasific countries news coverage, they are less biased , much more objective and doesn't have much clash of interest the likes of Channel News Asia, Nikkei , Yonhap, Antara, GMA, and so on.

That's mostly because they have to compete with fox news in who can have the most trashiest takes and have to pull double duty as a fact checkers for fox. I mean usually you don't need multiple takes to say the election weren't stolen.

Most news outlets just report it and move on but I guess they need to cash in on liberal smugness cash the same as Fox news on the outrage market. But if it's at least factual CNN can be as smug as they want. CNN international at least are not as bias as their main channel.

My favorite though is Al Jazeera, DW, BBC & I've been watching France 24. Also CNA for their top covering of the myanmar crisis.
