It seems to me that Turkish Coast guard commanders have a "makine soğuk" mindset. Zero agency, zero risk taking. Just smarmy memur types trying to curry favors with their superiors and salary collectors.

Guys have you ever thought: which country would be more effected than Türkiye if Greece expanded 12 miles territorial waters?
12Miles-ok.jpg

For sure Russian Federation!

Let's dreaming, as if Greece increased its territorial waters upto 12 miles and Türkiye "somehow" was forced to agree. So Russian Navy would not exit from Black Sea and pacific float wouldn't enter in the Black Sea.

Even Istanbul and Dardanelle Straits would lose their importance, Lozan treaty would be useless as Greeks had every rights to block warships.

Even Turkish warships would have more freedom than Russian Navy.

Will USA dare to sacrifice Türkiye in order to block Russian Navy in the Black Sea? Or would Greece dare to block Russian Navy?

Yes, yes, yes. Greeks are winning in Aegea currently. Romania, Bulgaria, Moldova, Ukraine, George, all of them is aligned with the US. If Turkey wants to form a coalition against Greek demands, there is only Russia will be in same stance with Turkey, the big bad evil one. That map, will be reality in 2029.

But Russians seem not troubled with the Aegean Sea issue so Greeks must have promised Russian Navy free passages.

I don't think that this issue is that simple to be honest, Greece can declare 12nm in Aegean but Turkey doesn't have to respect that even if they don't use their Casus Belli.

Even if all of the above countries you mentioned unite against Turkey in this matter, they will not have that much influence to change Turkey's stance on this. The 12nm is really a threat to Turkey because it literally cuts it's navy passage between Black Sea and Mediterranean Sea.

Russia will probably end up getting also Odessa, a very important port city of Black Sea. Once Russia establish control all over the annexed territories of Ukraine, they will want to have clear access into Mediterranean Sea.

And no, even if Greece guarantees free passage for Russian Navy, they would still have to pass through Turkey, which will make stuff more complicated if Russia chooses the side of Greece.

Although it would be disaster for us, Absolutely it does not cut our passage! We would have own coastal line. Russians would be totally blocked.

I am really wondering why Russia doesn't threaten Greece.
