"Quadcopters will trail behind": American kamikaze drone Hellhound S3 makes its first flight

Drone- The Hellhound S3 kamikaze, developed by the American company Cummings Aerospace, has successfully completed its first test flight. The innovation in its creation was 3D printing of the turboprop engine, which the UAV is equipped with.

As stated in the publication Defence Industry Europe, when attached to US infantry brigade combat teams, the drone will give them the ability to carry out precision strikes over long distances, which was previously the responsibility of the brigade level of command. With a maximum speed of over 610 km/h, UAV designed to quickly engage time-sensitive targets such as Tanks and armored vehicles.

"While the quadcopters are trailing behind, the Hellhound will already be over the target, allowing it to strike faster, penetrate deeper into the battlefield, and decisively engage fast-moving targets"
- said the developer.

The complex, which includes a drone, a launcher and a control unit, is portable, weighing 11,3 kg, and can be deployed by one soldier. Due to its modular design, payloads such as warheads, weapons EW or surveillance sensors, can be replaced in less than 5 minutes without the use of tools.

While the price is not disclosed, loitering munitions are said to often be significantly cheaper than traditional strike platforms.

What does this have anything to do with Turkish UAV programs?

Vestel's Import-Based Assembly Model

Vestel sold 2.76 million televisions in 2023.

Net sales revenues (112 billion TL), net profit was 2.3 billion TL, while net profit margin was 2.1%. So how much tax did it pay? 0, literally ZERO!

So why?

Because they don't produce anything in their mega factory. They buy TV panels from Chinese Tienma and Taiwanese AUO, power card designs from Taiwanese Delta, TCON designs from LG, and components on the motherboard from Taiwanese and Chinese manufacturers.

15 years ago, when I was a university student, I worked as a translator for Vestel's senior management, the Taiwanese chip company MStar (later bought by MediaTek) was producing image processing chips for Vestel. You won't believe it, but even the language packs in the remote control (Menu) interface were loaded by MStar in Taiwan.

They even bought the injection molds for the plastic cases of their televisions from Taiwan.

In other words, there is a production based on imports, a completely assembly industry.

R&D activities are just a story; they just arrange the components on the PCB and assemble them.

Look, they produced 2.76 million TVs in 2023 alone. There are 4 standard HDMI connectors on each TV, which is about 11 million units. The company that produces this connector in China pays hundreds of thousands of dollars in taxes, but a company with a sales revenue of 112 billion TL does not pay taxes.

Because their profitability is very low; they do not pay a single penny in taxes when their expenses, incentives, etc. are considered.

So, do they have a problem with increasing profitability?

No, they do not!

They do not have time to produce competitive technology because they are dealing with people's beliefs, their clothes, their beards.

They are not worth a penny, they do more harm than good to the country.

Vestel does not do any real production; it just puts the parts together.

Domestic Added Value 10%

It does not produce its own display panel, it is dependent on foreign manufacturers such as AUO and Tienma.

It does not design its own chips, it is dependent on companies such as MediaTek (MStar).

They do not even design their own power circuits (power cards).

The Chinese and Taiwanese Pay the Tax, Not Vestel:

Even the HDMI connector is imported!

• When a manufacturer in China or Taiwan produces that HDMI connector, they pay tax because there is real industrial activity there. But since Vestel only imports and assembles, there is no tax burden.

They Do Not Worry About Increasing Profitability:

• If their aim was really to develop domestic production, they would invest in producing their own chips and screens.

But instead, they keep costs to a minimum and continue to return with low profit but high turnover.

The system is based on not paying taxes!

R&D Activities and Reality

Although it is constantly claimed that Vestel does R&D, it is debatable how much added value a large part of this R&D actually provides. Because it is seen that no innovation is made other than arranging the components on a PCB.

While the world's major television manufacturers (Samsung, LG, Sony) design their own display panels and chips, it is thought-provoking that Vestel is still dependent on imported components.

• Vestel imports 90% of a television from abroad and focuses only on the case and assembly.

• It does not create any real innovation or added value.

Conclusion: Does Vestel Contribute to Türkiye?

As long as it continues with this model, it is difficult to say that it makes a big contribution to Türkiye in the long term.

• No real technology is produced.

• It survives with tax advantages.

Almost all of the production depends on imported inputs.

It does not seem to have a goal of creating its own technology.

Therefore, Vestel needs to make radical changes in order to be a truly competitive and sustainable technology brand.

They can start this change by firing the 28 February remnant named Cem Köksal, the Islamophobic CEO of the Holding

Can be the import based assembly Model from Vestel the Reason, why Kargi not entered serial Production till now ?
