Ukraine may not have time to launch satellite "Sich-2-30" this year: money for launch is still "frozen"

It seems that the Cabinet of Ministers cannot unblock these funds due to the actions of certain ministries

People's Deputy Dmytro Kysylevskyi, who recently visited Pivdenne Design Bureau, reported about this problem "in order to find out how things are going with the Sich 2-1 satellite, also known as the Sich 2-30 satellite, which is being talked about more and more actively. ".
According to him, currently the readiness of the spacecraft is about 90%, and the readiness of the ground segment - about 50% (as of January 2021 - 85% and 45%, respectively). That is, physically there is a real opportunity by the end of the year, as planned, to complete all work and launch the satellite into orbit.

However, the preparation for launch and the contracting of space on Space X's Falcon 9 rocket (which is being negotiated for launch) seem to be hampered by delays in "defrosting" money to fund these actions.

"We are dealing with a very rare case when the money to launch a satellite is there. And they are in the KB itself, though frozen. These are the funds left after one of the unrealized projects. They will be enough to prepare the satellite and ground segment for launch, pay for launch. , insurance, transportation and other expenses ", - the People's Deputy reported.

According to Dmytro Kysylevsky, a further delay in the "thawing" of funding, even in a few weeks, may simply disrupt launch plans, as the American rocket will not wait and Space X will simply find another payload to launch.

"The resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers, which has already been developed by the Space Agency and the Ministry of Strategy and Industry, has to unblock the funds. However, according to my information, other ministries do not coordinate it. , we risk not having time to contract a place on the rocket and "Falcon-9" "will fly without the Ukrainian satellite", - Dmitry Kysilevsky emphasized.

Earlier, the State Tax Administration reported that according to preliminary estimates, about 241 million hryvnias will be needed to complete the works and start-up services. At the same time, the actual launch requires $ 6 million (the price can be reduced after negotiations).

With proper funding, work on the completion of the satellite "Sich-2-30" should be completed by May this year, and work on the creation of the ground segment - by the IV quarter of this year.

It will be recalled that this year the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi gave the task of launching the remote sensing spacecraft "Sich 2-30 (2-1)" into Earth orbit . Until December 2020, this project was not funded and no work was carried out to prove it.
