The thing is Leo's didn't see any war.. Systems develop over time continously.. I always said that Leo's lack this input.. But this war could change Leo's into better if the Germans use the feedback or get any feedback of real warfare problems..
Maybe the real problem is in the philosophy of the construction. As far as I know, these tools were made for tank-to-tank battles.Perhaps its main purpose was to counter the large tank fleets of the Soviets. But times have changed a lot.Even in the symmetrical war of two regular armies, the biggest threat to tanks is now asymmetrical.I don't think Europeans noticed this change in time.Even if they did, they didn't care that much. This problem actually exists in every system they designed after the cold war.The products they make, from helicopters to tanks, from armored vehicles to drones, generally exist to be made.I don't blame them though. In order to develop products suitable for the developing world conjecture, it is necessary to be aware of those threats and to feel the need to eliminate them. The thing is Leo's didn't see any war.. Systems develop over time continously.. I always said that Leo's lack this input.. But this war could change Leo's into better if the Germans use the feedback or get any feedback of real warfare problems..
Lets see if there will be such a thing or they will only consider the Ukrainian knowledge into their new tanks..
It's going to be long and bloody. There is really no way around that given Ukraine's combat capabilities. They don't have NATO's ability to control the skies and rain hell down on the Russians from above. As a result, they have to advance through prepared defenses and it's going to cost them a lot of armor and a lot of lives. That's why I'm been saying that the USA, Germany, Britain, France, Poland and the rest of Ukraine's main support group, need to be preparing the next 75 Leopard 2 MBTs, 200 Leopard 1 MBTs, 100 M1A1 Abrams MBTs, 60 PT-90 Twardy MBTs, 200 Bradley IFVs, 50 Marder IFVs, 100 Warrior IFVs, 50 CV90 IFVs, 50 AMX10-RC IFVs, 100 Rosomak IFVs and 500 APCs and MRAPs. Not to mention, another 20,000-30,000 troops needs to be trained, ASAP, to use these vehicles. You must have follow on forces ready to sustain the offensive. Undoubtedly, there are going to be significant losses suffered throughout this campaign. The only way you're going to win it is by breaking Russian will through the constant addition of Western made armor and Ukrainian troops to the combat zone.
