RFE/RL: Instead, you followed that with the NATO-Russia partnership in 2010.

Rasmussen:
Yeah, yeah. When I took office in 2009, I reached out to the Russians and told them it's one of my priorities to develop such a strategic partnership, despite the fact that one year earlier they had attacked Georgia. So we have done a lot. But maybe Putin misread our thoughts and I think [that a] lesson learned from history is that appeasement with dictators does not lead to peace, it leads to war and conflict.

Those 16K bashar mercenaries Putin threaten to send from Syria ? Yeah I bet the rebels in Idlib as well as ISIS in the Badia desert would welcomes that moves as well. Not to mention the question if they could withstand the European winter.
Those 16k are not just numbers. They have already seen Complex urban warfare. You missed a point there is also Chechen fighters, if those two armies get together; that will be very bad news for Ukraine.

It seems that Putin is loosing because he couldn't take down Ukrainian govt.
(Plan A) but he can make it Right for Russia by making it a cotinuous war
(Plan B),, The living example is the war Ukraine fighting from 2014 with russian speaking rebelled region
Donetsk and Luhansk (Let's not forget it).

The escalation of conflict in Ukraine has caused destruction of civilian infrastructure and civilian casualties and has forced people to flee their homes seeking safety, protection and assistance. In the first week, more than a million refugees from Ukraine crossed borders into neighbouring countries, and many more are on the move both inside and outside the country. They are in need of protection and support. As the situation continues to unfold, an estimated 4 million people may flee Ukraine. In light of the emergency and paramount humanitarian needs of refugees from Ukraine, an inter-agency regional refugee response is being carried out, in support of refugee-hosting countries’ efforts. The regional refugee response plan brings together UN, NGO and other relevant partners and primarily focuses on supporting the host country governments to ensure safe access to territory for refugees and third-country nationals fleeing from Ukraine, in line with international standards. It also focuses on the provision of critical protection services and humanitarian assistance, while displacement dynamics and needs continue to grow exponentially.

**Where possible, statistics reflect further movements of refugees, to avoid double counting, such as in the Republic of Moldova and Romania.

As data continues to be triangulated and refined, the total number of refugees from Ukraine in the Republic of Moldova has been adjusted according to the number of exits recorded. Since 24 February, and as of 13 March 2022 00:00 CET, the Republic of Moldova had welcomed in its territory 330,000 refugees coming from Ukraine, including some 298,000 Ukrainians. Over 190,000 Ukrainian refugees have since then proceeded to Romania.

Pfft... you're regarding those pals to high. I am already watching the Syrian war for like 9 years already and assad henchmen are actually in the bottom of the food chain when it comes to combat experience.

The only reason they still exist is because isis turned the world attention away from them and the rebel infightings which plagues the rebellion + Russian intervention.
