When I took office in 2009, I reached out to the Russians and told them it's one of my priorities to develop such a strategic partnership, despite the fact that one year earlier they had attacked Georgia. So we have done a lot. But maybe Putin misread our thoughts and I think [that a] lesson learned from history is that appeasement with dictators does not lead to peace, it leads to war and conflict.

The Ukrainian Ministry of Defense released video footage from a Ukrainian mortar unit in action during combat in the battle of Moschun in the direction of Hostomel. The small village is located in the are of Kyiv and has seen constant shelling by Russian forces. This led to the evacuation of almost all of the 800 residents. Currently the Ukrainian military is defending the area against Russian advances. In the video you can see Ukrainian soldiers conducting fire missions on Russian units and artillery positions. Also there are two comments made by soldiers who participated in the battle. One finds surprisingly clear words for his enemy if you keep in mind that this is in fact part of a official press release.
