Germany will hold a big meeting on Ukraine

Pentagon spokesman John Kirby said that more than 20 countries have agreed to take part in a "consultative" meeting next week at Ramstein Air Base in Germany.
Defense ministers and senior officers from the US and partner countries will discuss what long-term assistance Ukrainians need military to remain combat-ready, including after the war with Russia," the message says.

It is clarified that, according to Kirby, US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin does not have concrete results of the meeting and is not going to participate in it with a pre-prepared list of what the US can provide to Ukraine.

"He wants to hear from allies and partners, as well as from the Ukrainians themselves, about what they are doing and what they will need in the future," Kirby said.

He specified that the meeting was not aimed at obtaining security guarantees for Ukraine.

.....sights and propellants are probably different ....at first we had bag propellants in mortars .....then we changed to ''half donut''' propellants .....
..the FDC gives commands to the guns on how much propellant, deflection and elevation
----as with many weapons systems --it is a system with many involved that need to work efficiently singly---- and more importantly together ......
..the FDC computers are probably much different also ......

Personally I always thought that movie was really about communism.

I grew up with those films, so mostly I think they were about cutesy-creepy little doll-monsters and all the shenanigans they would get up to.
In retrospect I think the first one was about anti-colonialism, appropriation and how especially western countries ruined any culture they could get their hands on. Going to a thrift shop, buying something they didn't know what to do with and then acting surprised when all went to hell. The second one is a pretty scathing indictment on corporate America and unbridled capitalism in my opinion.

But this is a thread on the war in Ukraine, not horror movies of the 80s and 90s so i will stop there

The battles that began this week are an attempt to determine the most vulnerable places for the defense of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Russia is completing the regrouping of troops for a large-scale offensive. Vadim Skibitsky, a representative of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, announced this on the air of the telethon on Saturday, April 23.





"The enemy is completing the regrouping of troops. All battalion tactical groups that have so far been concentrated on the territory of Belarus, near our northern borders, are now being transferred to the east of Ukraine. First of all, and secondly, the enemy is now trying to determine in all directions the most vulnerable places of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in order to launch a large-scale offensive and consolidate their success, primarily in the Donetsk operational area," Skibitsky said.

Exclusive: France and Germany evaded arms embargo to sell weapons to Russia

Paris and Berlin sent Moscow £230m of military hardware, including bombs, rockets and missiles, that is likely being used in Ukraine

France and Germany armed Russia with €273 million (£230 million) of military hardware now likely being used in Ukraine, an EU analysis shared with The Telegraph has revealed.

They sent equipment, which included bombs, rockets, missiles and guns, to Moscow despite an EU-wide embargo on arms shipments to Russia, introduced in the wake of its 2014 annexation of Crimea.
The European Commission was this month forced to close a loophole in its blockade after it was found that at least 10 member states exported almost €350 million (£294 million) in hardware to Vladimir Putin’s regime. Some 78 per cent of that total was supplied by German and French firms.

Olaf Scholz, the German chancellor, has faced fierce criticism this week for his reluctance to provide heavy weapons to Ukraine. Emmanuel Macron’s efforts to negotiate with Putin have seen the French president accused of appeasement.

Both Paris and Berlin have resisted an EU ban on buying gas from Russia, with the bloc currently paying Moscow €1 billion (£840 million) per day for energy supplies.

So if communication breaks down with central command, or central command can't give very precise orders, tactical command is given to youths with just a few months of military training. Most likely the reason we see so many generals and colonels killed is because the only way they can get tactical information, and get their troops to move is by going to the front. And by extension inviting the Ukrainians to a bird (or higher) hunt...

could be, so many of these movies potentially have hidden deeper meanings. Stanley Kubrick movies are maybe the best at doing such things, the shining being a great example. But yes back to the war.

....I was in the USMC ...we went to Argentina 1988....they had conscripts, if i remember correctly .....they weren't impressive at all .....also went to Tunisia--not impressive ......
..we worked with the French Foreign Legion = impressive
