Is Transnistria even a threat ? How is it Moldova unable to reclaim this piece of land ?
There is a Russian peacekeeping garrison of about 3 thousand soldiers in Transnistria.
A pro-Russian activist, a former saboteur, Strelkov-Girkin is afraid that there will be a simultaneous attack on the Transnistria of Romania and Ukraine. Romania, a sister country to Moldova. Moldova used to belong to Romania.
Strelkov-Girkin:
Information about the joint preparation of the Romanian-Ukrainian coalition for the "cleansing" of Transnistria received additional confirmation.
In addition to the units of the Moldovan army, equipped with Romanian personnel, indicated in my last message on this topic, there is information about the training of entire military units on the territory of Romania proper and already disguised in Moldovan military uniforms. There is also information about the concentration of Ukrainian units and subunits on the border with Transnistria.
The "interest" of the Ukrainian military command is not only in "a political and propaganda click on the Kremlin's nose," but also has quite applied goals: the seizure of the ammunition storage base in Kolbasnaya, where there is still a fairly large amount of ammunition for Soviet-made artillery systems.
.
The Moldovan authorities and military are openly afraid of war and do not even hide their fear particularly. But if (or rather, when) the team arrives, absolutely no one will ask them.
The Pridnestrovian army has no chance to hold out for any long time without outside support in the event of an attack from two sides (namely, it is planned, as the Nazi governor of the Odessa region Marchenko has already hinted) - there is no "from the word at all". And the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation are not in a position to help Transnistria with anything, except, perhaps, a certain number of missile launches on infrastructure facilities.
Sources estimate the probability of an enemy attack on Tiraspol in April-early May as "high".
