Putin announced that from now on gas will be sold only for the Russian ruble. Because the dollar and the euro have compromised themselves. The price for gas thus became 1350 dollars for cubic meter.

He is trying to salvage the economy and the ruble by forcing foreign countries to "buy" the ruble to import Russian gas. As we get deeper into this confrontation it starts to be apparent that the only thing Russians respond to is cruelty. You have to go about it quietly, but the Ukrainian's should stop taking POWs. If there are trapped Russian forces, north of Kyiv, the Ukrainian / International forces should shell them until there is nothing left of them. If they try to surrender, just say you didn't see it and send the snipers and mortarmen after them. Drone strike infantry positions.

Whether we like it, or not, sometimes the only way to vanquish cruelty, is by matching it. They say war is hell. Make sure every single Russian knows they are in hell.

This would be the ideal time to mobilize the populations at a high level, and massacre the Russian soldiers occupying settlements. Russian lives do not matter in Ukraine right now. Take them swiftly and send them home to their mother's, in pieces.

You must do everything quietly, rather than publically. The Russians will do heinous things regardless of how well you treat them. It's in their military doctrine and style of fighting to simply level communities and shell civilians and military alike. They will do whatever it takes to win.

Ukraine will be well served to match that level of aggression with ruthlessness of their own. Do it quietly and tactfully, but start breaking the will of the Russians. There are a lot of young Russian kids in that conflict (18-22 years old). Kids get scared when they know they're likely going to die, with their entire life left ahead of them. So show them what death looks like. You want to see a young person's morale break? Kill their friends around them and make death very real for them.

War is extremely ugly, but it requires a level of ruthlessness to it, in order to break the spirit of the enemy.

Also, if you want to break the spirit on the home front, send Russian sons back to their mothers, in pieces. Ukraine and the West must make this horrendous for Putin on the home front. Only Russians can change Russia. Changes come internally.

When the Allies went on the offensive against Germany, they did horrible things to the Nazi soldiers as they marched across Europe. Remember, they bombed Dresden to rubble and created a firestorm that turned German families to liquid. That wasn't an accident. The RAF was ruthless, and it was neccessary. They (my grandfather among them) did awful things to the Germans after Normandy. For example, special forces units would sneak into German positions and slit the throats of the young German soldiers while they slept. They'd break the bones of Germans that they caught, using every tool they had, demanding intelligence. They would execute German officers in front of their men, then demand information. If it was not given to them in a timely fashion, they beat those young German soldiers savagely. They'd force German soldiers (with a gun to their head) to make radio communications to surrounding units, only to ambush responding units with snipers and further demoralize the initial German by letting him know that he got his fellow countrymen killed.

The Allies didn't screw around. They realized that the Nazis had been ruthless, and that the only way to break the spirit of the Germans and earn their fear / respect, was to show them that they could be equally ruthless, in a calculated, thoughtout fashion. The German military went from the aggressor, brimming with confidence, to a scared, defeated army, knowing that the Allies were coming for blood.

This war is being fought on Ukrainian soil. The international community has already sided with Ukraine. They don't need to win hearts and minds and try to gain the trust of the local population. They need to break the human spirit of the Russian soldiers. If they do so, you'll start to see defections. You'll start to see mutiny. If you starve somebody long enough and kill enough of his friends, he turns into a psychological mess, not some super soldier, with renewed strength to fight.

The Ukrainians have begun to fight to a stalemate. It's time to crank up the pressure, take advantage of Western intelligence, technology, equipment and foreign personnel with combat experience, and start a ruthless counter offensive in the Kyiv region and across the Northeast.

Even if it's 25,000 KIA / MIA / wounded, that's substantial, but not entirely unexpected from a force attacking dug in, defensive positions.

You'd like to see that number double over the next 3 weeks. Keep the weapons shipments coming and keep the foreign personnel flowing into Ukraine. Futhermore, keep training up as many Ukrainian civilians as quickly as possible. They don't need to be elite, they just have to be able to make life hell for the Russian invaders. I'd like to see about 50,000 western rifles and machine guns make their way into Ukraine, ASAP, along with millions of bullets. Let the army handle the Russian armor, aircraft and artilery. Mobilize the population to be able to send Russian infantry home in caskets and urns.

Calculation of political pain.
Right now, the pain from loss of face on the world stage is less than the pain that would be inflicted on the german economy (and voters). Chemical weapons would then seem to be the rubicon that would shift that balance.

A simple, but effective, weapon against light Russian armor and troop carriers. Capable of suppressing infantry in urban setting as well, similar to an RPG.

Obviously, the USA announced an $800 million dollar weapons shipment last week. Britain has also announced that it will send Starstreak, short range, anti-aircraft weapons. It was also quietly noted that they've now sent as many as 4200 NLAW anti-tank systems. We also know that Turkey has been helping with drones and various forms of ammunition for them.

Canada, Italy, Spain, Germany, France, Finland, Norway, Belgium, Denmark, Czech Republic, Slovakia, The Netherlands, Australia, Japan, Poland, Greece, etc... It's your turn to step up again. We need to see a collective doubling down of supplies making their way to the Ukrainians.

The Ukrainians have all the will you could ask for. They simply need an abundance of tools to fight the battles. I'd like to see another $10 billion support announced, by the countries noted above, as well as others. Keep the pressure on The Kremlin.

Remember that the U.S. Congress approved up to $3 Billion in weapons transfers to Ukraine, and recently only sent $800 million of that (publically announced). That means the U.S. has plenty more support to give as the Ukrainians need it. Now it's up to the rest of NATO, the E.U. and our wealthy allied democracies, to twist to knife towards Russia as well.

Yup, more AT-4's. We do have the SAAB NLAW as well, but only in small quantities. We're also sending a lot of medical equipment and mine clearing equipment. Was really hoping they would send a few ASMs as well, would have been nice to put a few holes in the black sea fleet.
