Honestly Turkiye sees no value in joining any camp.

Turkiye was helping Ukraine even sending advisors to train the army.

Guess what the Americans, French and the Germans accused Turkiye of pissing off the Russians.

Now today they accuse Turkiye of helping Russia 🤣

Turkiye is just forming its own independant path. Why would it join any kind of camps full of backstabbers.
Khm, may I remind a small insignificant fact- Türkiye is already a member of NATO and using its benefits extensively. NATO article 4 is used mostly by Türkiye, 5 times against 7:

  1. On 10 February 2003, Türkiye formally invoked Article 4, asking for consultations in the NAC on defensive assistance from NATO in the event of a threat to its population or territory resulting from armed conflict in neighbouring Iraq. NATO agreed a package of defensive measures and conducted Operation Display Deterrence from end February to early May 2003.
  2. On 22 June 2012, Türkiye requested a NAC meeting under Article 4 after one of its fighter jets was shot down by Syrian air defence forces.
  3. On 3 October 2012, Türkiye requested Article 4 NAC consultations when five Turkish civilians were killed by Syrian shells. Following these incidents, on 21 November 2012, Türkiye requested the deployment of Patriot missiles. NATO agreed to this defensive measure to help Türkiye defend its population and territory, and to help de-escalate the crisis along the border.
  4. On 3 March 2014, Poland invoked Article 4 following increasing tensions in neighbouring Ukraine, as a result of Russia’s aggressive actions.
  5. On 26 July 2015, Türkiye requested that the NAC convene in view of the seriousness of the situation following terrorist attacks, and to inform Allies of the measures it was taking.
  6. On 28 February 2020, Türkiye requested consultations following the death of Turkish soldiers in air strikes by the Syrian regime and its backer Russia in Idlib province.
  7. On 24 February 2022, Bulgaria, Czechia, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Romania and Slovakia requested to hold consultations under Article 4 following Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine."

Maybe because it is in everyone’s interest to weaken Russia as much as possible, and now we have the opportunity to do it while the Ukraininas are doing the fighting themselves.

This is an opportunity that should not be missed, and it would be good for Turkey as well to be part of the coalition that helps Ukraine and defeats Russia.

I don’t think it would be bad for Turkey if Russia was weakened to the point that it would be forced to leave Syria.

If only Russia gives us Kazan.

Beautiful city!!

If only that beauty of a city was under Turkish ownership. One man can dream.

Any idea how those ships will find their way into Ukraine without transiting the now closed Bosphorus ?

The Ada corvettes can't be transported by land.
@Anmdt Dear Could you please enlighten us?

?
It doesn't apply to Turkish warships. Bosphorus and Black Sea is sovereign waters of Republic of Turkiye.
Thus TN is the only Navy within (also in the Black Sea assuming Russian auxiliaries are not capable) NATO with the capability and access to the Black Sea to recover the Reaper.

I mean the 4 Ukrainian Ada class that is being built in Turkish shipyard, how are you going to hand it over to the Ukrainian navy ?

Not sure about that. The construction may be completed in Ukraine (on paper) and it may be delivered as a cargo - unfinished construction with tugboats without a crew. In such a case, when the vessel is not powered on its own, it relies entirely on permission of TR. The future of project is not clear as well.

Heavy fighting awaits Ukraine in spring and summer - Pentagon

Heavy fighting awaits Ukraine in the spring and summer. But the Allies will do everything possible to solve the problem of ammunition shortages. This was stated at a briefing by the representative of the US Department of Defense, Brigadier General Pat Ryder.

He noted that since the beginning of a full-scale war, the United States has been doing everything possible to meet the needs of Ukraine, be it ammunition, air defense, armored vehicles.

"It's important to take a step back and look at the progress that has been made, while being aware of the fact that there is an uphill battle ahead, especially as we enter spring and summer," Ryder said.

According to him, today's meeting in the Ramstein format will be devoted to urgent needs, in particular, ammunition for Ukraine.

"You've heard Secretary Austin and others say that we're committed to making sure Ukrainians have what they need to succeed," the Pentagon spokesman said.

Recall, the head of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense, Kirill Budanov, said that decisive battles would take place from mid to late spring, this would be a "turning point" in the war.

US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin said that the States expect to see Ukraine's offensive in the spring.

Please define what you mean by democracy and freedom. Positions like this really make me wonder weather a person has experienced a freedom and/or citizens rights to decide over politics of the country of residence.

Personally, being former citizen of USSR and now Estonian Republic, I find it hard to take the freedom as a smokescreen. This is very much related to my sense of integrity, to my ability expressing my thoughts without fear of suppression and to the right of making the best choices regarding my location and enterpreneural activities. I can either exploit this freedom or not, simple as that.
I believe we all share your view /feelings for democracy and freedom on personal & domestic level. I am almost certain that a very big margin of people here supports Ukraine on personal level including me.

BUT

But here the main point is; the first thing thought to an IR student is, there is a clear distinction between domestic and international politics and the way they operate.

We may manage to go beyond pure Machiavellian understanding of early Realism by lets say Hans Morgenthau or Aron, yet still the concept of ''National interest'' is the key to understand international politics, only the definition of the concept became more and more vague and complex among IR scholars

The Kinzhal is based on the Iskander TBM, here's a few details of what we know. The Iskander is

  • Solid fueled, that means that once ignited there's no way to control the amount of thrust until its fuel is all burned out.
  • Thrust is estimated at 200kN
  • .
  • .......
  • thrust.PNG
  • Burn time is at 20 second, speed 2.1km/s= Mach 6.1 at 12-15km (50.000 ft)
....
  • thrust2.PNG
  • .
  • We also know that in that altitude, surface control no longer work, especially that Iskander fins are too small to force evasive maneuver, using TVC control doesn't help much, especially once thrust is all lost after all fuel is used. Iskander and its Kinzhal buddy will lose all thrust after 25 seconds = 52km passed. Add the "evasive maneuver" and the more energy is lost which equates even shorter range fro the Kinzhal
  • thrust 3.PNG
  • .
  • .
  • .
  • Another Russian propaganda weapons maybe ?
I dont know why all the mental gymnastics you had to put into this but the sources have shown that the Kinzhal is slightly bigger and is air launched where unlike the Iskander it has to reach an altitude before descending unlike the kinzhal that is already launched at a high altitude and most of its fuel is already used in flight than starting from the ground. Their ranges take account for manuevers with their cruising altitudes, it would be as stupid as stating the Zircon cant be 1000kms because of its flight path having more air density than BMs even though Russians have already taken account for the manueverability and low altitude flight paths of the Zircon

YEs, but the closest the soviets has ever been to the U.S is in the 60s where Soviet overall economy is 40% of the U.S...modern Russia isn't even 2% the U.S economy.
Bro, is that really an argument on why the HTV-2 failed and the Avangard didnt? Its because Russia is broke that their hypersonic projects succeed uuhhh what?

Only in Libya, 9 Pantsies were FUBAR, not mentioning the extreme humiliation of all kinds of Russian equipment during the Karabagh War. Our little Bayraktars have been causing you nightmares since then.

I could share multiple sources showing your extreme backside pain about those drones but I won't bother with someone who's living in denial.

Wake up and smell the coffee rather than living in your fantasy denial world.

Russia is exposed. It's not a superpower. Not even close. If they didn't have nukes, they would've been mauled down in the first two months.
interesting I am getting 4 pantsirs, with some being brought back to like the tanks in the Ukraine war.

I hate to inform you of this, but Russia is getting their teeth kicked in right now, by all available evidence.

1. The overwhelming majority of Russia's best troops are already KIA, WIA or MIA. They've had entire brigades of their very best forces made combat ineffective because of catastrophic casualties. Upwards of 50% of the VDV is completely gone. It can only be backfilled by mobilized men, with no training and combat experience. The 155th marine infantry brigade just got shattered at Vuhledar. They lost 136 armored vehicles and of the original 5000'ish men that comprised the brigade, they lost more than 2000 of them, including the majority of the combat troops. The "elite" 1st Guards Tank Army was so badly beaten down after the failed Kharkiv offensive and the subsequent retreat from the region, that they've had to refit back in Russia and are now being provided 50 year old T-62 tanks to backfill their loses due to a shortage of modern T-72 and T-90 tanks. Those are just a couple examples of some of Russia's best units that have been mauled.

2. Russia's most effective fighting force, Wagner, has been deeply depleted around Bakhmut. They're running out of recruited prisoners to throw into the meat grinder and are now being forced to engage with their best forces, north of Bakhmut. Ukraine has reinforced that area significantly, and is willing to pay a high price in casualties in order to further deplete Wagner's numbers and capabilities. Time in on Ukraine's side, not Wagner's. They are running out of ammunition, artillery shells and able bodies. When Bakhmut does eventually fall, and Ukraine pulls back to the defensive line at Chasiv Yar, Wagner is going to be deeply depleted and with it, so will Russia's ability to advance in that region.

3. Quality armor (tanks and IFVs) is a problem for Russia, at a time when Ukraine is just starting to receive some of the West's better stuff. The Leopard's, Bradley's, CV90's and Stryker's haven't even arrived in country yet, or have just started to trickle in. By mid April there will be a steady flow of Western equipment coming into Ukraine, while Russia continues to pull 50+ year old T-62 tanks and BTR-50's out of storage to backfill the catastrophic loses of their best tanks and IFVs. In the recent months we're also starting to see the uptick in lost Russian artillery as well. Russia still has plenty of it, but Ukraine is increasingly winning the counter battery artilery battle and as more and more, advanced Western systems show up in Ukraine, the Russian artillery losses are also starting to mount.

4. Ukraine is just NOW starting to get some of the "good stuff" from the West. GLSDB from Boieng and JDAM-ER are now allowing Ukraine to pack a bigger punch. HIMARS have made a huge difference in Ukraine's ability to target Russian logistics and command centers. But they've be using relatively small warheads in GMLRS. JDAMs can be attached to 2000lb glide bombs, the likes of which the USA used to devastate enemy strongholds in Afghanistan. It won't take long before Ukraine starts using "big boy" bombs to smash Russian concentrations of troops. We're now seeing the commited of larger Kamikaze drones as well, similar to the Lancet drones Russia is using. Wait until their advancing artillery starts coming under mass drone strikes and their ability to use artillery to support their advancing mechanized forces starts dwindling. We'll start to see the daily casualty totals skyrocket beyond there already high levels.

5. Russia's inventory of cruise missiles is dwindling quickly, at the same time as modern Western air defense systems increasingly come online in Ukraine. Russia has used a majority of its best, modern cruise missiles, which it uses for strategic strikes, and Ukraine is just now starting to receive Patriot, IRIS-T, NASAMS and SAMP/T missile defense systems to replace their outdated S300 systems. Therefore, as Russia's missile stockpile dwindles, Ukraine's ability to intercept them grows exponentially.

Russia is not winning this war right now, no matter how hard you try to convince us otherwise. Ukraine is training ten's of thousands of troops in Europe and they're receiving much better training and being outfitted with much better equipment than mobilized Russian soldiers that are LITERALLY being asked to provide their own gear through purchase by their families. The quality of the forces that Ukraine can reinforce and backfill their units with is much greater than that of Russia, despite the Russian numbers advantage. The technology edge is also substantially on the side of the Ukrainians and it's growing increasingly.

As we move towards the rainy season and the mud becomes a major factor again, Russia's ability to press on the offensive will continue to be an increasing issue. They are terrified to use their Air Force deep inside of Ukraine for fear of anti-air systems and they still haven't captured a major Ukrainian city of note since Mariupol, which essentially sits on the Russian border, months ago. Russia has delusions of taking Bakhmut, breaking through the defensive line at Chasiv Yar and taking the regional capitol at Kramatorsk. They've been trying to take tiny little Bakmut for 8+ months and have endured tens of thousands of casualties in the attempt to take the city. What do you think is going to happen when a fully reinforced Ukrainian defense at Kramatorsk digs in? What will that cost the Russian Army, another 100,000 combat troops and 3000-5000 armored vehicles? Eventually the cupboards become bare, especially as Ukraine wreaks havoc on Russian supply lines that are increasingly incompetent, every mile they advance from the Russian border.

The West ABSOLUTELY has an agenda. Anybody discounting that is delusional. But you are WAY off base if you think Russia is performing well in this war to this point. Remember that in the last 6 months they've lost substantially more ground in their retreats from the Sumy, Kharkiv and Kherson regions, than they've gained throwing tens of thousands of fighting men to their deaths in their attempts to take Soledar and Bakhmut... Meanwhile, 40,000+ more Ukrainians are digging in and waiting for them in the highlands along the defensive line south of Chasiv Yar.

Good luck Russia... May ten's of thousands more women, children and parents in your country never see their sons, husbands, boyfriends, and children again. One can only hope they die cold, scared and alone, in an empty field, litered with artillery and mortar craters in Ukraine.
As I said, nothing has changed. We have been listening and reading the same nonsense for a year.

only poor ukrainian and russians are dying. In other countries, the lives of low-income people are getting harder. expensiveness etc.

There is at least one improvement. Someone can no longer parrot the lie of the West that "Russia suddenly attacked Ukraine".

Down with the west, down with Russia. Down with the colonists!
