Training is a problem. To be useful to Ukraine, however, do pilots need to be trained fully in every aspect of NATO-style use of the F-16? Keeping pilots chasing cruise missiles and glide bombs well away from Russian air defence threats, for example, would be very useful. Again, low risk stand off attacks using glide bombs and missiles would also be useful. Using the F-16's for anything the MiG-29's ,Su-24's would otherwise need to do would help. And while the F-16's are engaged on those tasks, their pilots are building hours and experience.

Do Ukrainian pilots need to be trained in every aspect of flying an F-16 in combat if they don't want to die real quick when coming up against Russians in equal-to-or-better planes and in higher numbers, with much more ground-to-air stuff backing them up?

Err, probably. It'd help.

That's generally a many-many-months to honestly probably-a-couple-years proposition, too. If they had a half-dozen qualified guys when two of the three top pilots were killed a couple months back, that figure's not going to be all that much higher now or into the near future.

Agreed, pilots should spend a long time training on F-16. Ukraine cannot do that, I think. It does not have the time. That is why I suggest using F-16 in lower risk areas to do lower risk jobs. Chasing cruise missiles well away from the front line seems a task they could do. When engaged by fighters, cruise missiles don't try to shoot fighters down.

Russian servicemen shared their experience of using homemade robotic platforms in battles. Robotic platforms were used in battles in Ukraine and in Ugledar, robot models are not reported, transport models are shown.

Isn't that pretty much the lion's share of what they're being used for anyway though, downing Russian projectiles? Obviously that's not the same thing as air-to-air combat in the manned sense, but you're still going to have to train sufficiently and master (or close-to master) all the plane's systems, which are apparently pretty starkly different to what Ukrainians are used to with their ex-Soviet stuff.

Like, yeah, they said around a half-dozen Ukes completed the F-16 training, just a month or two back. The quiet part seeming to be indicating that quite a lot of the guys being trained failed the competencies, I doubt Ukraine just sent like 10 guys to Europe & the U.S. to learn.

It's probably going to be a very uphill battle in the sense of getting pilots. Unless we're going to recklessly take the gloves off and put it in legal writing that no ex-western F-16 pilots are going to face any repercussions should they want to sign up for the Ukrainian air force. And that's probably not happening, and probably shouldn't happen either.

Now that Ukraine's chances in victory is as close to the rock bottom as never before, the West is now taking whatever they can from the hands of Ukraine
Ukraine will be the new Iraq/Afghanistan, a place full of corruption, drugs, and an eternal period of both slavery and warfare

Thankyou USA!

An auction with only one bidder! Sounds really irresponsible to me unless .an independent valuation was obtained. Without that (and that may have been done) this sale looks very suspicious.

This was the zionist plan long before the orcestrated Maydan colour revolution. Take Ukraine and depopulate the Slavic people by war and fill the lands with Khazarian Ashkenazi's.

Lool, Ukraine was already considered one of the most corrupt places in Europe before the war anyway.

Smelling real "Iraq was all hugs & flowers & puppies before Bush & Cheney came to power!" vibes there.

Now I understand why Ukraine launched a full scale invasion of Russia in 2022! Thanks for putting me in the picture.

Looks like the Rooskies have started taking back Kursk, with some success.

Kinda thinking Ukraine's in real trouble by now, unless they can somehow avoid being encircled and get a majority of those hardcore units back behind their lines. A lot of top-line guys and top equipment, if Russia routes them the east of the country's down a bunch of defensive capability.

Who knows what is developing in Kursk- well known Ukrainian commentator Denys Davidov reports that reinforcements are being sent to Kursk by Ukraine and the Russian salient risks being cut off.

You're right, clear fog-of-war situation for now. And I'm hardly going to take the Russians entirely at their word. A lot of media's reporting it though, that they've at least finally sent a sizeable force to take it back, and not much dispute/pushback that another 10-ish towns & villages are back in Russian hands, so yeah. There's probably at least partial truth to it, even with each side tending to exaggerate to make themselves look favorable.

I'd have to...sort of question the quality of the reinforcements Ukraine would be sending, too. They'd be stupid to take much more high-end stuff off the defensive right about now, given recent Russian gains, it's probably more expendable type normies.

EDIT: A pretty detailed run-down toward the bottom of this page too, seems thorough & supported:

An episode of the battle of the Russian assault group from Samara, in the Pokrovsky direction. The assault group, consisting of a BTR-82A and a buggy, was tasked with landing troops. The video shows the assault group breaking through to a populated area and landing troops. During the retreat of the BTR-82A, it was attacked by five Ukrainian FPV drones. It is unknown how, but the Russian BTR-82A withstood all five attacks. The BTR-82A is equipped with a homemade protection system called "Mangal", but due to the low quality of the video, the elements of the protection cannot be seen. The video is shortened, only the key moments of the battle are shown.

Footage of the Russian FPV drone "Prince Vandal Novgorodsky", controlled via fiber optic cable. In the video, the FPV drone "Vandal" attacks the rear of a Ukrainian T-72AMT tank. The T-72AMT tank is an updated version of the Soviet T-72 tank, produced in 2017 at the Kiev Armored Plant. Many upgrades have been made to the tank. In terms of protection, the tank is close to the Russian T-72B3 tanks. Please note that when the drone attacks, a Ukrainian pickup truck with electronic warfare systems can be seen on the road, but since the drone is controlled via fiber optic cable, the electronic warfare does not affect it. As a result of the drone strike, the T-72AMT tank was destroyed, it is unknown whether the crew managed to leave the tank. The video was filmed in the border area of the Kursk region of Russia.

Russian army training to defeat sea drones. This video is unique in that a real Ukrainian sea drone MAGURA V5 is used as a target. In the video, Russian servicemen practice the skills of defeating a sea drone using FPV drones. It is unknown how the Russian army received a working Ukrainian sea drone MAGURA V5. The drone is presumably equipped with a Starlink satellite Internet system.

An episode of a battle in the Kursk region of Russia, which is currently unexplained. In the video, an unknown armored personnel carrier, similar to the BTR-82A, drove out to meet two tanks. After which, the tank fired point-blank at the armored personnel carrier, as a result of which the APC's turret was torn off. In the video, you can see that the APC crew left the combat vehicle, one of the soldiers calmly walked past the tank, the rest went in the other direction, but the second tank tried to hit them. The video does not show any insignia on the equipment, and it is also impossible to determine who the soldiers are. Perhaps one of the sides fired at their own equipment.

Zelensky just made (most of) his "victory plan" public, and it's predictably pretty laughable and showing he still doesn't get it.
