The balkans are like one of the most nationalistic countries next to Turkiye, Italy, eastern european countries and Japan. If anything they will just piss off the EU by not doing their mandatory service of taking in 1000s of migrants from Africa or start legalizing gay marriage. I think there is a reason why they are still not in the EU.

In the long term, the EU will probably change its “values” and will abandon the current flawed policies of bringing in undocumented migrants from Africa and forcing gay marriage on member countries. The EU will reform and change, and the mentioned countries will be happy to join.

The central bank was expected to raise base rate further at the end of 2024 to contain inflation. Putin is the guy who it is said stopped the bank from raising base rate. He is damaging the economy with his war spending and only making things worse by interfering with management of the economy.

Personally I am pleased that Putin is interfering. The more he does, the greater the economic and financial problems Russia will face.

This negotiation process will most likely fail before it even starts. If no European country will be at the negotiattion table, it means the negotiation will not be serious and will not achieve anything.

So the most likely outcome is that the war will continue to grind on.

Indeed. I have relatives in a couple of countries that were invaded by the Germany in WWII. They stood no chance of repulsing the might of Germany but they did not want to lose their freedom and live under tyranny so they resisted. Ukraine is in a far better position to resist Russia than their countries were to resist Germany in 1940.

Who in their right mind would swap independence and freedom for control by a tyrannical regime that would remove their freedom?
