High-quality footage of a Russian FPV drone, "Prince Vandal Novgorodsky," attacking a Ukrainian 2S22 "Bogdana" self-propelled howitzer on a Tatra T815-7 chassis. The video was filmed in the Kharkiv region of Ukraine. As a result of several strikes by "Prince Vandal Novgorodsky" drones, the Ukrainian 2S22 "Bogdana" self-propelled howitzer was destroyed by fire. The wheeled version of the "Bogdana" self-propelled howitzer on a Tatra chassis costs approximately $3.3 million.

Two related news:
1. The call between Rubio and Lavrov, in which they were supposed to prepare the topics of discussion for the Budapest Trump-Putin meeting, did not go well:
"A source familiar with the matter told CNN, though, that officials felt after the Rubio-Lavrov call that the Russian position has not evolved enough beyond its maximalist stance. For now, the source said, Rubio is not likely to recommend the Putin-Trump meeting move forward next week, but Rubio and Lavrov could speak again this week."

this was followed by the White House announcing that: "there are no plans for President Trump to meet with President Putin in the immediate future."

2. The Ukrainian General Staff confirmed this evening's cruise missile attack on targets within Russia, which included the use of Anglo-French Storm Shadow cruise missiles.

We can speculate whether the US gave the green light on Storm Shadows to increase pressure on Russia, or UK/France gave the green light without the US to increase pressure on Trump for Tomahawks and concrete actions, but I think the UK/France would have consulted with the US before giving the green light.

Ukraine 🇺🇦 and USA 🇺🇸 are preparing a contract that will see USA sell Ukraine 25 Patriot air defense systems, as well as hundreds of PAC-2/3 air defense missiles. It's a multi-year contract, with the systems set to arrive in varying quantities throughout the remainder of the decade. USA 🇺🇸 is open to European countries that are already in the queue for Patriot systems to vault Ukraine ahead of them in priority, in order to accelerate more systems to Ukraine.

The exact timeline for the arrival of the new systems has not been released. It's believed that the first new Patriot systems will begin to arrive throughout 2026.

When Ukrainian officials talk about a strike on Russian territory, they mean "old" Russian territories—internationally recognized ones. It appears Kyiv has admitted for the first time that it attacked Russia with the missiles you mentioned.
This is a new reality that Putin will have to come to terms with.

Now, after the White House announced the cancellation of the Trump-Putin meeting in Budapest, I believe a new situation has emerged in which Washington can provide Kyiv with Tomahawk missiles and permission to launch them to full depth. After all, if the Russians tolerate Storm Shadu and Scalp attacks, why shouldn't they tolerate Tomahawks?! How is Chingachgook's axe any worse?! :)

Well, yes, Trump's mood is like autumn weather: it's unclear whether it will be sunny or rainy:rolleyes:

Russian 300mm Tornado-S MLRS rockets struck temporary deployment and UAV command posts of the 28th Separate Mechanized Brigade of the Ukrainian Army. The rockets used in the strike were equipped with a GLONASS satellite guidance system. The video was filmed in the Donbas near Kostyantynivka. According to media reports, more than a platoon of Ukrainian soldiers were killed in the strikes.

Strikes by Russian Geran-2 drones on the city of Novhorod-Siverskyi in Ukraine's Chernihiv Oblast. Footage captured by local residents. The strikes targeted the city's energy facilities.

Rare footage of a close-in strike by a Russian Italmas heavy kamikaze drone in Ukraine's Sumy region. The video shows an Italmas drone strike in Sumy, filmed by a local resident. Italmas drones remain rare.

Sweden and Ukraine signed a letter of intent for a future contract on the purchase of up to 150 modern Gripen E fighter jets to bolster the Ukrainian Air Force.
What's interesting about this contract is that the first E model Gripens would take approximately 3 years to arrive in Ukraine, at a cost of approximately $150 million usd per unit. Meanwhile, however, a small care of Ukrainian pilots have been working in Sweden to familiarize themselves with the Gripen. The prevailing thought is that as more E model Gripens are delivered to Sweden 🇸🇪 in 2026, that the Swedes may be in a position to send 10'ish older C model Gripens to Ukraine, which would form the foundation of their future squadrons.

Regardless, this is more of a long term move and could cost upwards of $15 Billion usd (if all 150 Gripens are procured). Ukraine cannot finance those units on their own, therefore, they'd need substantial help from their allies and, likely, significant funds from frozen Russian assets would have to be unlocked.

In the short term, there are two more important factors when it comes to building up Ukraine's Air Force.

1. France has another 15-20 Mirage- 2000 fighter jets that it will be in position to sell to / donate to Ukraine starting in 2026, as they receive newer replacements. However, in order for Ukraine to be able to take advantage of them, they need enough pilots trained to fly and operate them. There are batches of Ukrainian pilots as we speak, training throughout Europe, Canada, Britain and USA, however, France is the only country training them to fly the Mirage-2000, and they're rumored to only be able to support the training of 12-15 Ukrainian pilots per year. That number must be expanded significantly if Ukraine is going to be able to operate a fleet of 25-30 Mirage-2000 fighters.

2. While F-16 training continues to pick up pace at 4 locations internationally, Ukraine needs to buy significant spare parts from the U.S. and Europe. Ukraine's fleet will grow to approximately 40-50 jets in 2026 (with 75+ pledged in the medium term). While more pilots are needed, the West is doing all they can in that area. That said, to keep the fleet war ready at a 75%+ clip, Ukraine will need hundreds of technicians and significant quantity of spare parts. Luckily, USA is continuing to retire many F-16 units each year. 62 C/D model F-16s will be retired from U.S. service in 2026 alone, with similar numbers scheduled for retirement in subsequent years. Many of those aircraft would serve as excellent "parts donors" for Ukraine's growing fleet, allowing them to keep sortee rate high as they are a key part of both Ukraine's offensive action in the East and Ukraine's layered air defense infrastructure.
