Unfortunately you are right here. There is a lot of mistrust between European countries, and this is why the integration process is very slow, and why Russia and the US are able to bully Europe.

If Europe was truly united, it would be on an equal footing with the US and China, and would wipe the floor with Russia.

But hopefully, with time, Europeans will start to feel more as Europeans and less as Germans, French, Dutch, Romanians, etc.

The only way for Europe to regain its place in the world as a dominant power is to be united.

United we stand, divided we fall.

The war is not a trap, it is an invasion. Russia unilaterally destroyed its economic ties with Europe by invading a European country.

In the past, there are typical 3 way of Europe energy supply, oil(From middle-east and widely OPEC), gas(Russia), nuclear(West Africa). Now all of these has been destoried or controled by US, which mean Europe cannot grow its industry and feed the people.

The energy landscape is evolving rapidly, with rapid expansion of renewables, and more efficient energy storage solutions. You also have the electric vehicles that shift demand from oil to electricity.

While Europe has its problems with sourcing energy right now, the rapid developments in the space mean that there could be massive changes in the near future, and in the end Europe my come out better off, if it manages to reduce its reliance on imports.

News on the aid front for Ukraine has streamed in this week.

A group of 8 countries including Norway , Sweden , Denmark , Finland , Iceland , Latvia , Lithuania and Estonia have teamed up to buy a $500 million usd PURL package from USA for Ukraine. The package will consist of the following:

- GMLRS Rockets (HIMARS)
- Air Defense Systems
- Air Defense Interceptors
- Precision Guided Munitions

Germany has agreed to contribute $200 million usd to a PURL package for another PURL package for Ukraine. They'll join a yet-to-be-named group of countries purchasing yet another $500 million tranche off the Americans.

The European Union , has released a $7 billion tranche of funding to Ukraine. The funds are expected to carry Ukraine's budget deficit through January.

The European Union is disbursing almost €6 billion ($6. 97 billion) in further financial aid to Ukraine, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen announced on Thursday.

Not that I'm defending Russia, but all this could have been avoided from the outset if Ukraine had been left neutral and not lured with offers that were and are unrealistic.
Now it's only a matter of time before there will be a sham peace, with a new Iron Curtain and territorial concessions.

This path was abandoned in 2008 at the NATO summit in Bucharest, when Ukraine (and Georgia) were offered the prospect of future membership – without any guarantees, but with a signal effect, and promises continued to be made over the years.
For Moscow, this was the strategic "point of no return".

Great news regarding the Ukrainian strike on the Novorossiysk oil terminal. Not only that Ukraine hit the oil terminal causing massive damage that took it offline for the forseeable future (some say that it might take six months of repairs to be able to restart exports), but it also destroyed at least four S400 launchers and a radar at the neraby military base tasked with the air defense.

Satellite images from before and after the strike show the S400 launchers being obliterated. The most capable Russian air defense was kaputed by Ukrainian drones, while the Neptune cruise missiles hit the oil terminal.

Yes, it sounds like Ukraine has a corruption problem. Does this date back to when Ukraine was under Russian influence? To me Russia seems to be entirely corrupt. Top (Putin et al) to bottom (useless alcoholic Ivan. Yuri, whoever).
