Footage of the first kill by Russian FPV drones of a Ukrainian M1A1 Abrams tank with the "Mangal and Hedgehog" combined armor system. The video was filmed near the village of Zaliznychne in the Zaporizhia region. The drone models used were not disclosed. The Ukrainian Abrams tank crew was presumably killed after being evacuated due to drone attacks. Dead soldiers were found near the tank; the footage has been removed from the video.

Both sides have relied very heavily on Starlink terminals for battlefield communications, and, more recently, Russians have been installing unregistered Starlink terminals on drones to provide beyond line-of-sight connectivity and resistance to jamming. This is a very troubling development for Ukraine, which is now experiencing attacks by drones suspected of using Starlink.

After winning their election, the sitting government of Japan has made the unprecedented move to join the PURL initiative for the purchase of U.S. weapons for Ukraine. At this point Japan will not purchase offensive weapons, rather, they plan to purchase items such as air defense radars, body armor and medical equipment.

Japan is expected to announce the contents of their first PURL package in the coming days, marking their first military aid for Ukraine since the outset of the war. Previously, they've spent billions in cash.

The.fungibility of money is why this is so important. All of this equipment is necessary, regardless of who buys it for Ukraine. If Japan buys non-lethal aid, that allows the contributions of other countries to buy more lethal aid.

In an overwhelming vote The European Union Parliament has officially passed the $107 Billion usd loan for Ukraine, enacting it into existence. The loan will consist of $71 Billion usd for Ukrainian military needs and $36 Billion usd for budgetary support. The loan will be distributed in installments over a 2 year period beginning in April 2026.

The $107 Billion will cover 2/3 of Ukraine's defense and budgetary needs for the two year period, while Britain , Canada , Norway , Japan , Australia and other minor contributors will collectively cover the remaining 1/3 ($53.5 Billion usd).

Today Britain announced that they will become the 26th country, with a $205 Million usd contribution to an upcoming package. This comes one day after Japan announced that they would become the 25th participant in the scheme.

USA is willing to sell Ukraine's allies up to $15 Billion usd worth of weapons for Ukraine in 2026. Mark Rutte is leading the effort to maximize participation and diversification among participants to ensure that burden is shared.

The destruction of Russia is funded for two more years already, and Putin‘s fans still think Russia can outlast Europe in an attrition war.

At this point, Europe can budget the war for two years in advance, and if necessary it can do the same forever, until Russia’s economy completely collapses.

Meanwhile, Europe gears up its defense industry and ramps up procurment, while Russian refineries burn.

The funny thing is that if Russia continues this war for too long, it may end up with a well-armed Europe at a time when Russia will be at its weakest. This might have unpredictable consequences.

Denmark ordered these self-propelled howitzers from France in 2017. The Caesars were delayed for a long time while defects were being corrected. As of today Ukraine's Allies in the Defense Contact Group have committed $38 Billion in military aid for 2026. These funds will come directly from state budgets and does not count any of the funding Ukraine will receive from the $107 Billion usd loan the EU is extending Ukraine starting in April.

That said, there is still additional funding required. NATO is trying to raise $15 Billion usd throughout 2026 in order max out the PURL initiative to purchase weapons from USA. Thus far, they've received commitments for approximately 1/3 of that total. Furthermore, the Czech led artillery shells procurement program require roughly $6 Billion usd per yewr to be fully utilized. Thus far, approximately 1/3 of that initiative has been funded as well. Finally, Ukraine has approximately $7-$10 Billion usd worth of domestic military manufacturing capacity scheduled to go unused in 2026 due to lack of funding. Ukraine continues to seek international donors to help fund that avenue as well.

Great start to the year in terms of support. Ukraine will get a big boost come April as well. Lots more work to do though, and, unfortunately, that's going to require us Western tax payers to dig a little deeper to ensure that Putin is thwarted on the battlefield.

Residents of Odesa have published footage of strikes by Russian Geran-2 kamikaze drones. According to media reports, the strikes targeted the Ukrainian port of Chornomorsk, located near Odesa, as well as industrial infrastructure and power supply facilities. The overnight and morning strikes damaged 20 substations. According to Odesa authorities, all traction substations were left without power.

Germany and Ukraine have partnered on the production of 10,000 medium / heavy LINZA Quadcopter Bomber Drones in 2026. Zelensky and Pistorius were both on hand for the announcement today.
