Future USS Minneapolis-Saint Paul completes successful acceptance trials

Pentagon’s No.1 weapons supplier Lockheed Martin Corp has announced that the future USS Minneapolis-Saint Paul, completed acceptance trials in Lake Michigan.
Littoral Combat Ship (LCS) 21, the future USS Minneapolis-Saint Paul, passed several trials including a full-power run, maneuverability testing and surface and air detect-to-engage demonstrations of the ship’s combat system.
“LCS 21 joins a fleet of sister ships delivering unique flexibility and capability to the U.S. Navy,” said Joe DePietro, Lockheed Martin vice president and general manager, Small Combatants and Ship Systems. “Freedom-variant LCS are inherently capable to serve freedom of navigation, drug interdiction and humanitarian missions, and with additional capabilities onboarded, they can serve further focused missions. On LCS 21’s acceptance trials, we successfully tested the ship’s maneuverability, automation and core combat capability.”

The Freedom-variant LCS has completed four successful deployments, including LCS 7 (USS Detroit)’s deployment completed this summer. LCS 7 deployed to the U.S. Southern Command supporting the Martillo campaign – a multinational effort targeting illicit trafficking routes in Central American coastal waters.
Regarding LCS’ capabilities, U.S. Southern Commander Admiral Craig Faller recently stated, “LCS has proven to be an effective and adaptable platform capable of multiple missions in our area of responsibility. It has become an end-game enabler for U.S. Coast Guard law enforcement authorities who disrupt transnational criminal organizations and the smuggling of deadly narcotics. Adding the LCS to our Enhanced Counter Narcotics Operation is helping save lives.”
LCS is a highly maneuverable, lethal and adaptable warship designed to support mine countermeasures, anti-submarine and surface warfare missions. The Independence-variant LCS integrates new technology and capability to affordably support current and future mission capability from deep water to the littorals.

Please pay attention after the 7:00
Torpedo mark 50 which is dropped on water can communicate with DARPA system.
In example it is said that as target start (sub) to evade and drops noise makers and decoys DARPA can detect and classify those decoys and tell to torpedo what was the decoy and what was the actual target (the Sub )

I would like to know you thoughts again.

It's a pretty interesting channel, thanks for bringing to my attention!

I am not altogether surprised US has developed something like this in the 90s...essentially if you are able to saturate an area with enough sensors, you can discriminate all kind of things much more readily since you are effectively growing the array input considerably. With comm+computers these days (90s was crucial time they really took off), you have lot more options for quick data handling+analysis for this now.

A lot of hardcore Math going around in those sonars.. a lot :)

Yeah I was talking to myself while watching it...heh.

Just write thetha-dot! (for the bearing rate thing lol)...*video spends 5 minutes explaining it*

Having worked with radar concept (and just math in general regarding flight etc) I take lot for granted.

I was also thinking out loud on what kind of further sensor array, filters, algorithms, database they would definitely have for further signal analysis and processing by basic cross-referencing (certain manner of things I have worked on for better faster simulations in my case).

Conceptually it is fairly easy to think about if you think about what the input variables and scenarios are and how to best handle them.

@Paro was one who reminded me this video was updated.

A notice published on 30 April 2021 on beta.sam.gov reads:

The Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR), Program Executive Office for Unmanned Aviation and Strike Weapons (PEO (U&W)), Precision Strike Weapons Program Office (PMA-201) announces its intention to design, develop and procure a carrier aircraft-based offensive strike weapon. The Department of the Navy is developing the Offensive Anti-Surface Warfare Increment 2 (OASuW Inc 2) based on recently completed OASuW analysis activities. OASuW Inc 2 is envisioned to be a long-range, carrier-based, strike fighter aircraft-launched weapon system providing ASuW capabilities. The program is part of the Navy’s Long Range Fires investment approach to meet objectives of the National Defense Strategy. As a key component of this strategy, OASuW Inc 2 will address advanced threats from engagement distances allowing the Navy to operate in, and control, contested battle space in littoral waters and anti-access/area denial (A2/AD) environments.
