The three Pohang-class corvettes donated to us by South Korea are currently being upgraded with subsonic VCM anti-ship missiles. We have successfully integrated the Raytheon AN/SPS-64(V)5B radar system with the subsonic VCM-T anti-ship missile variant, which has a range of 100 km, in order to optimize the weight and balance of the Pohang-class corvettes.
We have decided to build new small missile ships of the BPS-500 class (Project KBO-2000), a collaborative product between Russia and Vietnam. Only one ship, bearing hull number 381, was previously constructed and is currently in service with the 4th Regional Fleet.
However, this time the vessels will be equipped with domestically produced weapons such as naval guns, anti-ship missiles, and electronic systems. Reviving this project will accelerate the modernization of small surface combatants across our five naval regions
