Usa implemented a well known tactic that has been used for centuries rather than surrendering weapons they destroy them or disable it.

Many have done this in the past so the enemy does not benefit from your weapons.

Capturing weapons is also a propaganda victory as it allows the Taliban to show off their new stuff.
