It sounds like the committee uses their own rendition of Indonesia Raya ya? sounds a bit Japanese especially in the brass section

lucu sih kedengerannya agak beda, unique nonetheless

Sound like the great War era orchestra

Tapi tetep aja juntrungannya pakai ranking2x an lagi. Akhirnya tetep aja keblinger world view nya kalau begitu, Ga akan ada inovasi kalau masih berpikir pakai ranking2x-an gitu. Yang ada hanya copy-paste dan carii legitimasi doank

Untuk ber inovasi harus bisa Berpikir Mandiri (Independent Thinking) baik di tingkat individu maupun secara institutional.

hey now, is there anyone else who could reliably expect to outmatch 🇨🇳 when it comes to badminton❓

Its true, INA has the highest record for it overall in crunch situations esp.

But the dominance I saw of PRC as young lad in Badminton (during 90s and early 2000s, when INA saw some relative waning from its previous era.... allowing this) now has competition past INA:

- Japan
- Taiwan
- Denmark
- LCW (Malaysia)
- India
- South Korea

In India case, we have much to thank one state (Andhra Pradesh), its govt at the time helping Gopichand to set up, fund and grow his academy.

It is by this how Saina Nehwal and now PV Sindhu have been nurtured, grown and deployed....and new crop will follow consistently now.

It is with Saina Nehwal we saw Indonesian support for her against PRC in number of occasions.

Thus we return favour whenever possible for INA vs PRC....this is what I was referring to.

On larger note it has been heartening for us to see this academy bear good fruit compared to earlier era of "sole" burden with Padukone and then Gopichand for example....when there was little to no state support and basically it was purely individual luck, talent, dedication based and we got used to 2nd or 3rd tier in Badminton presence....with just a few flashes in the pan (like when Gopichand won the all england).

Similar to Tennis in this era with Amritraj and then Bhupati/Paes etc.

Why this was the case for so long is simply the over-fascination with a sport (Cricket) that barely any countries play globally. It soaked up 95% of interest and thus (scarce) money for sport in critical cold war era and for another 20 years past it or so (and still extremely dominant).

Very different course to how communist-statism played out "at any cost" w.r.t PRC in same era for international wide sport/athletics...that they enjoy effects downstream now.

But that is changing now, Badminton shows the way (academy nurturing) along with how wrestling, hockey, kabbadi, archery, boxing, weightlifting, basketball and other sport and athletic endeavours are slowly grabbing more of the interest/cash pie with state support (Orissa for example stepped up in big way to fund Hockey).

More and more people grow sick of a monolith sport model (colonial hangover origin) that few others play.

It will take time, but the process has finally started. We will have reversals too (like how Kidambi from no.1 has dropped off scene almost.... after illustrating that degree of longer potential and promise)....but its about getting the raw supply to where it needs to be.

Seeing Hockey in olympics this time (India fighting real hard in semi final versus belgium and eventually going down 5 - 2 after holding 2-2 for long while), a commentator made a very astute point....India needs to have far more year top tier league presence like Belgium enjoys within Europe. So that needs to be looked at IMO...as players simply are not going to develop to same degree without constant competition (that rest of Asia for hockey simply will not provide).

Hockey itself is very long story in the classical era which India dominated and why that changed with newer fast paced rules and astroturf etc...and India became 2nd rate team for 30+ years....but now its presence is waxing again.

I prefer the current situation of badminton when no countries to have dominan situation with regard to any other countries. More competition, more fun to see and thrilling to watch. Hope the other countries like India, Vietnam, Thailand, United Kingdom, Netherland , US etc can give more competition and fun according to sports spirit.

The badminton scenery has been changing. It's not like the old golden era of Indonesia and China.

If we see the annual BWF world ranking in the last 5-6 years, the world no.1 player really vary. Men's single it's from Japan (last 3 yrs in a row), Denmark, Malasiya, and China. Women's single it's Spain (of course the wonderful Miss Marin), Taiwan (4 yrs), and China. Men's double it's Indonesia, Korea, and Malsiya. Women's double it's China and Japan. Only in mixed double that China have been dominating the world no.1 player in the last 5-6 years.

This development has been fantastic. We see more countries with wonderful players winning the series and change the map of badminton world.

Cricket gets a lot of flak for other sports not doing well in India but it's unfair. Almost all major European, African and South American countries also have soccer as their primary sport and devote most resources, advertising etc. to it. USA of course plays sports no one really does, except maybe Canadians.

India's problem has been corrupt administrators. Tennis is a classic example. The European juniors will have a coach, physical trainer, nutritionist etc. attached to a group of 5-6 youngsters who will travel for junior tournaments across Europe. Indian players will have the administrator's wife, children, relatives etc. using Govt. Funding to go shopping. They will also not assist in visas or anything. Most promising Indian tennis players end up becoming coaches in USA or Europe or Singapore. Those with money and resources can sustain it. One guy Ramkumar Ramanathan who is in top 200 I think has been lucky - he has been bankrolled by Chidambaram's son. Top ranked Indian singles player Sumit Nagal was bank rolled by Bhupathi and now lately by Virat Kohli, India's cricket captain.
