Top Sped : 24 knots
Kapal Patroli Cepat with top speed of 24 knots? Why the just dont call it Kapal Patroli Lintas Pulau or something else..
This can be categorized as small opv though, why not give more budget for bakamla to operated and owned this class of vessels
Yea, perhaps someone can bring a light to me why do we need so many small KAL and other type of smaller vessels? I know one of the purpose is to guard/patrol the lantamal, I mean is it the plan to have 1 small vessels for each lantamal? Or those smaller vessels needed for the Junior officer training?

Maybe because Bakamla still has some sort of 'problem' with their financial report/BPK thus they cannot receive more budget? CMIIW

Fuel economy is very important. And beside the public and those guys whose approve the budget won't care either, as long they can slap 💯 Karya Anak Bangsa sticker label on it.

Even tho a boat has 30 Kn + speed. Its unlikely to go full speed all the time, even most of the time is in the state of economic cruise speed. Between 12 to 20 kn, depends on the engine.

Talking about PAL KCRs, without Mirror and Smoke, no doubt they sucks.

Just the Missile will make they good, especially if installed with Over The Horizon missile

Economic cruising is between 9 - 10 kts. Even 🇩🇰 Iver Huitfeldt class are operated in such manner. However, the need for sprinting from point A to point B as fast as possible is as paramount as having the patrol vessel in the first place. If the vessel couldn't reach the spot where she is needed, then there is no point in having them in the first place.

Heard Excalibur if the new Amphibious cargo tracked vehicles got success for the Marine corps, they would like to designing new Amphibious assault vehicles for the Indonesian Marines corps. The vehicle would be assemble on their Indonesian "partner" production facilities line just like the Amphibious cargo tracked vehicles
Meanwhile heard from FNSS that Indonesia had been in talks for MAV, but FNSS doesn't foresee any deliveries or deal in short-term. They look a bit hesitant to be honest and for now focused on deliveries of 27 MAV for the Navy.

Talking about PAL KCR
To be honest they suck at some major particulars apart from the equipment. KCR-60 as the base design should have abandoned for a better design made from scratch around the same tonnage and length.

To be honest too i can't say no for this

well since KCR-40 the design update and advancement have made little progress, i dont mean to underestimate the vessel designers in Indonesia and i know that the KCRs (both 40 and 60) are made from different shipyards but seems to me that they are just copypasting the design of SIGMA corvette and then adding the REM's design cues just to make it look more sleek and slopey while updating it here and there so as to ensure that it looks new

not to mention the choice of CODAD even though it is named as kapal CEPAT rudal

I dont know man, some vessel do different speed due to many factor.

What I believe the average economical speed of big boat is around "belasan" knot.

Instead patrol boat with small signature and powerfull engine should do the job of sprinting like what you said.

Next to do with patrol boat is VBSS capability.

I do need some long and detailed explanation for this case. Perhaps you guys willing to give me some enlightment about ships produced by PAL.

It will be my pleasure to read your explanation.

They serve their purpose of selling the 💯 Karya Anak Bangsa branding to the 🇮🇩 public. Whether they work as their intended usage is another problem that doesn't need to be solved. 🇮🇩 public will never know anyway.

Im not much into the details, but here is my slight opinion, doesn't meant to be rude or underestimate our ships designer and i believe they have done it with a various research they did, and i believe they could done it better

First, im gonna compare the ships design of our KCR with some of other 60 meter class ships

would you love to see this first

1280px-KRI_Sampari_(628).jpg

our KCR 60 Class

«Волгодонск».jpg

Russian Navy Buyan Class

JMSDF Hayabusa class

2012._9._서해_NLL해상경계_Rep._of_Korea_Navy_NLL_Maritime_Security_in_the_western_sea_(8031753530).jpg

and ROK Navy Yoon Youngha class

And here is why, need for you to know that Japanese Hayabusa class is first built in 2004,
the Russian Buyan class first built in 2006
the Korean Yoon Youngha first built in 2007
and our KCR60 is first built in 2013

what im gonna say is, outside there already exist some 60 meter class ship even before KCR 60 was designed, they even looked much more robust and better design,

im not saying our KCR design is that bad, but it can be better

dan pada akhirnya balik lagi ke cost saving design and their limited budget,

It is not about the production, it is about the design. Everything starts with the sea-keeping, i don't care much about the rest (sensors, weapons, RCS design, propulsion, speed), for quality wise the construction is up-to standards (except of the works around the bridge, and it has been improved up to standards in the latest hulls)

Sea-keeping is everything for a boat, and it is something this boat is very bad about, this feature has long been ignored in favor of providing a higher speed with lower-engine power, more deck-space compared to the volume even lacking fin-stabilizers as a measure to save costs. This shows the mindset which is the design is a result of, has not been taking feed-backs from field or caring about the sea-keeping.

I don't care about the rest because those can be changed by time, adapting new weapons or sensor suites; or even top-speed can be improved by working on certain sections or upgrading engines-gears-propellers. But, seakeeping is a whole, as a result of whole hull design and can not be improved with slight modifications.
